We all know those people were just there hoping that the Queen would make an announcement about MWO :o . In all seriousness though, sixty years is impressive.

Yeah - Victoria is the only other female monarch in the world to exceed that.

Most countries have a constitution. Including the UK; the UK constitution has been evolving since 1707. Since the 1920s the Queen (or her family) has essentially been reverse engineering certain laws to prevent her from being decapitated. That's why we call the UK a "constitutional monarchy", which of course is a white lie.

All of which serves to disprove your statement that the monarchy is unconstitutional. the UK has a constitution. Their constitution supports and defines the role of the hereditary monarch. And the UK is a constitutional monarchy. Therefore the hereditary monarchy is fully constitutional.

In the US, it might unconstitutional. In the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, and Saint Kitts and Nevis it is not. And the queen is the monarch of some 128 million people throughout those countries. She's also the head of the Commonwealth of Nations - which includes those 16 countries, and 33 more, 5 of which have monarchs from different royal houses. And thats just in the western world. Japan has been a monarchy under the same imperial family since 600 bc. Japan has a constitution... and a hereditary monarchy. Clearly, it's not unconstitutional in Japan, either. There's another 125,000,000 people that accept a constitutional, hereditary monarchy.

The Kingdom of Tonga - a former British Protectorate - has just *become* a constitutional monarchy in the last couple of years.

Clearly, your statement is only true within the context of the US Constitution. And therefore, doesn't apply to this thread.

Well said Sir!
Some of us gladly swore and oath to HM the Queen and are proud to have done so. All governments are prone to corruption and excess, but the Windsors have proven themselves less prone than most others.

The way I see it (as an American) The Queen isnt a ruler , She is a servant of the peoples of Great Britain and the Commonwealth ,

She Represents those people , those commoners . She in fact Belongs too and Represents them.

When I congratulate Her , its those people who I congratulate , If I show Her respect its to those people I show respect ,

and as an American I can respect and Congratulate any one I want .

I resent those who disrespect my choice and try to shout me down. In fact I have become angry over this.

I heard ******* and moaning about the pain and suffering in Africa, Well who went there , spent their own money to

try and help those who suffer under corrupt Governments (guess what philosophy they Claimed)? YA I was there , and I

Met a lot of good "commoners" People from Great Britain , Canada, New Zealand , Australia . Oh but I did not see anyone

with that "Philosophy" , No one from Eastern Block Countries , No one from a Communist Countries, No peoples with that

level of "enlightenment" cant waste their time helping or building up, they are much more important for that, they need to do

the all important work of tearing down disrespecting people and Ideas their Highly evolved minds cant understand , they are

after all those who should determine who and what deserves to live and die , they cant be expected to offer a kind word or

gesture of peace and Congratulations .

Sorry but I think some folks should pack up their I-pods and Mac books , put on their designer flipflops, $300.00 sunglasses

Take their Worthless PHDs and college degrees , Use Mommy or Daddys Visa get a flight to North Korea. And if they dont step on

a landmine , or get shot for the color of their skin, or being Gay , or any number of made up reasons , if they can live there, they

can slowly starve to death along with the common man , and know in their heart that their new Government believes the same as they

do.

The really sad part, is all of us , them me you, the Queen , when we go to bed at night we all look up and see the same things , there

is no Royal ,commoner no white or black , free or slave no one has anything some one else dosnt , we are all alone within ourselfs

maybe if you believe in God you can pray and accept yourself for what you are or will never be, Me ? I sleep good at night.

As a former member of the CAF, I have sworn allegiance to the Queen. And while her life was never meant to be for the throne, she accepted the responsibility that was thrown on to her. While I will not say that the House of Windsor does not have their flaws, they did something that was amazing back in World War 2. Instead of using their name and connection to run to one of the areas that was not being attacked, they stayed through the London bombings. And if any one wants to complain about the "cost" of keeping the Royal Family, well a basic US escort class carrier costed about $1 millions/day back in the mid-'90's. That is not the super carriers that they like to show off. If they cut the number of carriers in the fleet, hell even cut the number of ships back over all, the amount of free cash available would pay down their national debt which is in the trillions of dollars now.
Besides, we are all playing or waiting to play a game based about 1000 years into the future and have massive amounts of territory controlled by hereditary monarchies. So we can't all start flaming each other.
