what will it be? i mean,weightclass wise... what´s in order? since tomorrow (wednesday) is my börthday, i am thinking about making myself a present, but i am torn between getting one of the existing ones (though there are not more than maybe 2 i actually would buy^^) or waiting for the next one... but that again, depends on the weight class... so...

what weightclass will it be, and - since PGI said it will be based on an already existing chassis - what´s your speculation on the actual mech?

Well, what's left?

Founders' Mechs - Jenner, Hunchback, Catapult, Atlas
Hero Mechs - Dragon (x2), Highlander, Awesome, Commando, Cicada, Centurion, Cataphract
Champion Mechs - Dragon 5N (because if you were sucker enough for Fang and Flame, this makes for Elite so give us your monies)

What's left that hasn't been tapped or grossly over-tapped (Dragon)?

Remaining: Raven, Spider, Trebuchet, Jagermech, Stalker


I think all of them have good reasons to create as Heros, but maybe the most likely is the Trebuchet.

They might also follow up on the success of releasing Heavy Metal before the Highlander and make the next Hero a Blackjack.

Upcoming 'mechs are Blackjack (May), Orion (June), Unknown Assault (July), Flea (August).

They've already stated next hero is an old mech. I'm going to go with spider, it follows the general order of hero releases (light -> medium -> heavy -> assault -> light), and it's the least played mech of the class that has no hero/founder as of now.

I'm going to guess it's going to have a missile rack, or be a variant of the 5V with 12 JJs but an energy point in an arm.

If it's a Spider, it'll have to be the fabled 6 MG Spider - the effects to the back armour of an Atlas will be devastating!

hm...so it´s probably a light...well spider sounds reasonable, although i would think a jenner would also be cool, but that one has a founders model... raven? the hate gets cooler now for the 3L so maybe?

My money is on a spider. No idea what it will be; probably a new, in-house variant. If they give me big jump jets, ECM and even one missile hardpoint, I'm in!

It'll be the spider unless they really want to try and make a hero mech that has to compete against the raven 3L...which just isn't going to happen unless it has ECM and 3! missile hardpoints.

Unless they go off the cuff and make a trebuchet, that's the other option. They're skipping the Flea in the rotation, so they may skip the light hero mech entirely as well

The Next HERO Mech will be the... JGR-RM "Rifleman" - 1x Energy, 1x Ballistic in each arm, and 1x energy in each R/L Torso. It will have 360 degree torso rotation but come stock with only a 195 Standard Engine (and ~260 or so max.)

With a hero light, Spider or Raven, the question becomes: Do they dare give it ECM???

With it, you get the endless cries of P2W.

Without it, you get a light that is out-classed; especially by the 2 ECM/Streak lights.

Look at the Death's Knell and the X-5. I think the smart money's on no ECM, though none of us can say for sure.

Well, the only logical hero build is some merging of the current set of Ravens.

I anticipate something like 3 energy, 1 ballistic, 1 missile.. with possibly JJs.
Alternatively, there could be a 2 energy, 1 ballistic, 2 missile build...
I'm betting on the former.
