you make it sound so simple, just strip the armor and then get close to use your mg's. LOL! Seriously you feel that you are able to get close enough to an Atlas once you hit him with 2 PPC's and still think your going to get close enough to use those mg's if he knows your coming, good luck with that not including if he has escorts guarding him.

Never said it was simple, in fact it takes a bit of skill. However if you're a spider or Raven 4x teamed up with say an Atlas, Jager, or other brawler you can simply slip beside or behind the enemy assault and just casually yawn and kill 'em. The Raven 4x is intended to be part of a lance, not a lone fighter. (But you can easily brawl by yourself after trading the weapons for an AC/20). Spiders are intended to hunt in packs or backed up by other mechs. An LPL + 4 MG spider is not my favorite build, but with a team that includes a brawling build or several other lights, it's perhaps the deadliest thing you can put into a field against missile boats and AC warmongers.

You are right about the escorts. It's hard to take down a mech with escorts. But the fact is that ideally in terms of when you use a Raven 4X, you're supposed to be the escort! Truth is most mechs you catch on their own lonesome don't have escorts. Brawler builds? Escorts? Pfft! They tend to go solo because they want as much money as possible. The only reason they travel in packs is because the DDC has ECM. Otherwise it'll be like the other Atlases, all alone on some wild tangent, and easy pickings.

Greatest thing about the 4x as an escort? If you are a brawling assault and encounter a 6 ER PPC stalker, an Atlas DDC, or any other assault mech with a formidable weapon loadout that is escorted by a Raven 4x, who would you shoot? The assault mech, or the Raven?
  • If you shoot the Raven, he'll start to circle you, which means you'll expose your back to that big assault mech for a quick and easy kill.
  • If you shoot the assault, the Raven will casually sip coffee while adding to your demise. Either way you always lose.
  • And even if that enemy assault should die, you'll either be so badly hurt a few strikes will take you down leaving the Raven to win anyway, or he'll fall back and regroup with another assault or heavy. Given that the Raven 4x has the torso twist of a Catapult, it can shoot you even as it runs. No matter what, you lose to the Raven 4X unless you can beat 86 kph (the speed of my AC/20 Raven, which is faster than the trial's 81 kph, but that's still faster than most assaults).
With the first attempt of the trial Raven 4x (since the April patches) I was on frozen city. I found a 4 ER PPC Stalker who chose to cave rush. I tagged along. We went through the cave, came out the other side, and I waited for the Stalker to engage someone. He found a 6 ER PPC stalker. They exchanged blows. I simply stood there and shot into the same side torso that the stalker I'm escorting shot at, and bam he just blows up. I got the kill. Was an XL engine. We then systematically went up to each enemy. Got one more kill and an assist. When my stalker died, I paired up with a Catapult A1 splat-cat. I managed to take 3 of his kills. Then I was alone, but the final Atlas already had a bad back because I was working on him. I jump-jetted onto his head, did a little dance, turned to face the same direction as him, then stepped off to land behind him and pump my lasers, MGs, and SRM-6 into his back for a quick kill. He retorted: "Since when can a Raven jump?"

Atlas-K is the best variant IMO next to the D-DC. This is my current AS7-K build and it's a monster! AS7-K

I think they call this the entitled generation, because they want everything for free and easy as can be.

A raven with machine guns that don't do anything, a cent with useless missiles, and an awesome.

Good sale.

I mastered the Cent, and elited the Awesome. Both were a lot of fun. Not so high on the Raven, but I prefer Jenners.

I'm just a kind of guy that instead of making a Raven do something poorly, I'll get a medium and make it do it a lot better, and not have to fight a Raven-3L or Jenner with it.

Small sale. I was hoping for more colors to go on sale.

The Dragon is the only one I'd consider buying MC to purchase just because I'm feeling lazy and am new to the game; but sadly that isn't on sale. So much for fifty percent off 'all trial mechs.'

Any chance on staying true to the claim on the game client and adding that to the sale within the next few hours to capitalize on 1. your sale income, and 2. my willingness to purchase it?

My Raven 4X.

Posted Image

Loadout: AC/20, 3 tons of ammunition, 4 jumpjets, 1 small laser, 86 kph, max armor, brawls assaults one on one and wins with ease. (Trades jumpjets for 2 additional tons of AC/20 ammo with ease).

An hour ago, I poptarted a poptarting Highlander with 3 AC/20 rounds to the side torso at 260 meters away. I won.

It's nice to be able to leap in the air as a Raven. Press Space to jump.

I would say that the sale is consistent with what they do with the trial mechs. Cycle different trial mechs. Wait 2 weeks or so. Have sale. Profit. Very simple, yet terrible since most of the stock mechs disappoint.

Now, if you ask why they pick certain trial mechs... I couldn't tell you a thing. Most sales that I'm aware of is related to some tourney event and/or the "poor variants" that seem to need more love. That's the only thing I can come up with.

For instance.. I've seen quite a bit of Atlas-K sales for a bit.. and that variant is terribad. Unless you are a completionist and/or hope that something of use will come to the Atlas-K, it's not that good a variant. They keep trying to sell it as if it were great, but it's sheer junk at the moment.
they do it cuz XL300 wich you can use as a beginner quite a lot it was the first mech that i got for that engine to put in my jenner as Open beta startet

It's way too slow, dude, but, if you like it...

Glad you like it but there is nothing in that build that even a Founders D can't do or do better. I sold my K and kept the D-DC and RS.

That is really weird, and not very AS7-K. You can say you like it, but the matter is, you need to use both the AMS for it to be unique. That build right there can be done 100% better by an Atlas-D-DC, at least it has more modules, you have a ton and a half (and the two slots needed) for ECM as well.

I'm strangely attracted to it as well, but it really is the worst by far. Especially as ECM is (at this very moment) so much better than AMS for missile protection, and AMS really just sucks.

We also have to think about the dang price. I mean some mechs can get away with being 'fine' because they are so cheap (think of the Hunch-4SP, when missiles were good, it was good, and cheap). The Atlas-K is by far more expensive and terrible really. Bleh.

You may also want to take the ammo out of the center torso. I mean everyone will be shooting you there, you don't want the Gauss to end up making you blow up like a firework. Put 2 tons in the arm on the missile side, so if they shoot it off (which of course they would not be, they would be shooting the dangerous side) you would lose the ammo anyway, and if people are shooting your arms, they are silly.

It is a little slow too, but not terrible. You could always remove 2 HS and get to a 325 engine+ENDO and be about 10 KPH faster and about as cool, but its whateves.

Am I the only one confused about the lack of a heavy here?

What is there to be confused about? The heavy is a Champion that I figure would be treated as a Hero, if they get put on sale it would be separate from non-Champ/Hero Mechs.

No, just having my ideas clear, no one on their sane mind would waste MC on those mechs, less alone with the current PPC meta.
Try to put yourself in the place of a new player, would you buy any of those?...
Everybody seems to know the answer, you on the other part...

English... look into it.
