Maybe it matters where you are, which is possibly why they've considered adding some regional servers. It sucks, but in FPS type games ping is a huge deal. Doubly so in this one because there are more things the server has to keep up with than just a bullet hitting a head for example.

The trouble is that before 16th April patch I've never had this issue and my ping isn't that bad (120-130ms). HSR has raised my hit chances but I always need to keep my crosshair stable and fixed otherwise my shots never land where they are supposed to, the same happens when I get out of any cover, I must stay exposed for that little more time than usually awards me of almost all of the return fire.

Before 16th april I could pop out of any cover and shoot instantly right out of it and hit whatever I wanted, dealing with lag shooting, but it was more "natural" let's say.

Simple solution to provide proof is to check your Weapons Stats. My Gauss has fired 20 time for 10 hits, so 50% hits, and has registered 145 pts. of damage, or 14.5 per shell. Pretty close to the maximum 150 if every shell was to do 15 damage. But given that any one round could kill a section without using its full damage potential things appear pretty good.

Obviously, more shots would provide better data. :(

Can't really do this as weapon damage tapers off past recommended max range of the weapon and with the state of long range combat now ppl are sniping at 1k+ distance. You could only do what you're suggesting if you fired every single shot when the ranges are green.

I have had this issue repeatedly, but only with ballistics. I play with my dual ac-20 build jaeger the most, and have connected (at least in my visuals) as much as eight full rounds into light mechs with no damage. It has happened with an ac-5 build as well, albeit less frequently. The most recent occurrence was today on my dual lb 10-x ac build on my k2. Once with a cicada and another time with a spider. Four to six shots in each of them with no damage. Generally 115 to 120 ping.

I play MWO a LOT. By a lot I mean 5-12 hours a day EVERY day. I am no stranger to the frustration of a weapon firing what appears to be a hit, but only to see that it has done no damage. I play every weapon platform and often. Not just lasers, not just PPC, not just AC ballistics, not just S-range or L-range missles but everything. I am very familiar with the "feel" of every weapon currently in play. That being said, Gauss is NOT registering as hits. My ping is just fine 75ish, I live in Washington state and am closer than most Americans to the server so lag is not the issue. I run AC5's and 20s quite a bit, there is no issue with that area of ballistics. Firing a gauss round and getting the visual graphic of a connected hit only to see that the target mech has sustained no damage (no pulse glow of any area) happens commonly. I can tell when a round has connected, I am very familiar with ballistics in game and projectile trajectory and speed. Hits are not being recorded and damage issued on more than 50% of my gauss shots. It needs to be looked into first, to prove that there is an issue, and then that issue needs to be addressed and corrected.
