Missile hp in the head.....At most you're going to be able to use a single srm4, and that's if you've kept ammo for it in your CT.

Not the best. Maybe not even good.

The 9M would be better simply because of the fact that it would have a laser at it's disposal. At best a single mpl, sure, but we've all seen what a single laser can do. Still piddly, but better than CTF-4X, imo, at least with regard to zombie-ability.

You can store ammo in the legs, if neded.

The problem with those heavy mechs is that they'll always be slow... The Centurion can be quite agile, and it is not a bad idea to build him this way.

Still, it doesn't hurt to try to put some useful firepower in the CT and H..

Is the Cataphract-4X a good zombie? As the mech has the best "loadout" to be a zombie (2E CT, 1M HEAD), it would seem like an interesting choice...

I'm thinking it wouldn't be that great due to its speed.. and subsequently the Awesome-9M would be similar...

The issue with the Cataphract 4x being a zombie is that it can never be fast enough to get away with it. I think that's the main reason for the engine limitation.

The 9M does have amazing hardpoints for it and can be fast enough. The trouble is once you lose your shoulders, those "shoulders" become your front torso. If shot in the back shoulders, they are still your front torso. The Centurion is nearly as wide with its arms, but without the Centurion gets skinny. Its T shaped body easily gets away with the build. The Awesome has a { } shaped body and would be like a tub of lard running across the field. You can try it. I'd be afraid to do it.

We started using 'Zombie', at least around here anyway, early in the games development, even before we had torso destruction = arm destruction.

With current builds, here's what it tends to mean (and I'll use a CN9-A as an example):

Lose left arm shield, keep fighting.
Lose right arm, keep fighting.
Lose left torso, keep fighting.
Lose right torso, keep fighting.
Lose left leg, keep fighting.

Zombies are Mechs that can (and do) fight with up to five lost areas. Due to the two energy slots in the centre torso, they can always do damage, no matter what areas they lose. They almost always die with a total health in the low, or less than 20% area. The record at the office was Matt Newman in a CN9-A with 6% health remaining (we had shot both arms, both torsos, a leg, all armour, and most of his internals out.)

Also, it means that, like a 'zombie' from older movies, you can't really kill them without massive damage done, like removing the head, or destroying the brain. (Let me say that again - removing the head, or destroying the brain.) Since it takes this much damage to kill (or precision), they are extremely terrifying opponents (like zombies) and as they almost always lose a leg before they die, tend to shamble like one too.

Zombie Cents are the most relentless. Rarely do they lose their mediums lasers in the CT which seems to be able to take a god awful amount of punishment even when cherry red CT armor.

Centurians are the ultimate Zombie.... no other mech can compare, the best of the Cents for pure damage output is the 9A ran with 2 MLs and 3 SRM6s. But if speed is your game the 9D with a HUGE engine is the way to go you sacrifice some firepower but can keep up with most of the lights in the game.

Hey Garth, can we have a Zombe-ready hero 'mech? Like a CN9 with 2 B hardpoints in the CT and space for a big standard engine.

Dual AC/2s for a 300+ damage received 'mech with a steady 8DPS? Yes please.
