I would say I am pretty up on Mech, I do not ever one time EVER remember anyone saying a jump jetting mech is a poptart.
OH, wait I played in one of the top clans in the world only in league games and scrims. I guess that was a pub term you got in your games Zerb.

Oh and OP we've moved on. The new term is PopTARDS.
I made the post because I fear the Devs will listen to the threads crying about a viable tactic, yes some shake and rattle in the cockpit is going to be a great additon.
Just afraid of the CareBear syndrome that seems to infect every game eventually.

That's the problem. The tactic, even though it is the stupidest battlefield maneuver I have ever heard of, is viable, when it most definitely should not be.

Given this, I can perfectly understand why people would 'whine'.

...I do agree though. All this nonsense about "nerf convergence, nerf aiming, wah I die too easily, quadruple double armor," is hogwash.
Still, if they'd fix missiles, I'd bet my wages the QQ would significantly recede on PPCs as LRM QQ increased.

Also I just say this subforum and laughed. "Metagame" Really PGI..what metagame? Oh you mean the player made content and contests (sorry your solo contests mean squat in a team based shooter) that garner nothing of value in this game other than c-bills which are accumulated simple by logging in and licking the window?

It is pretty freaking easy to hit the huge highlander in mid air btw, or maybe your just bad?
JUMP JETTING is a very viable and accepted tactic, enough with the stupid poptart comments.
And to the people who want to take SKILL out of the game. Please go back to table top immediately, seriously GTFrackO.
DO you know why mech table top rolls dice and is random? Because it is TABLE TOP. You can't very well sight someones CT in and shoot a laser now can you ?
This game does not need fixing of the jump jets or some kind of STUPID A@# idea about when you shoot it is random where you hit or it does damage in a cone,NOOOOOooooooo, please leave and never come back whoever wants that.
Yes, I play table top and yes I have 100's of mech models, yes rolling dice is fun.
No, rolling dice is not fun online in an action game.
If I put my cross hair on YOUR LEFT EYEBALL (looking at you Atlas) I want to hit his left eyeball. Don't tell me with all these technologies in the future these weapons are so much more inaccurate then our current weapons of today.
If you want to talk about balancing issues fine, but to INTENTIONALLY take skill out of the game, and calling mechs with jump jetts "poptarts" is beyond insane.
For all the crybaby whiners out there, I have a perfect game for you coming out soon
it is called Mechwarrior Tactics and is more of a representation of table top.
https://mwtactics.com/
Oh btw I don't use jump jets on a single mech, but I sure love blasting them when they jump in the air exposing themselves from behind their perfect cover.
Here is some advice,
1. Get better.
2. Stop crying
3. This is an action game, not a freaking RPG where we roll the dice and wait to see where it hits, or how much damage we did, go back to wow please.
4. Stop making up names like pop tarting which really shows the ignorance of your mech knowledge. Been playing mech for 30 years and now this stupid term is introduced.
About me if your wondering, so this isn't coming out of nowhere. Was star commander of Clan Diamond Shark we won the ADL league, and came in second in NBT. I was the ONLY member of CDS, to earn a blood name in mech 4 (the test was really a bit too hard).
Good day mechwarriors and good hunting "SQUAWK"
you just had a multi paragraph post whining about people whining...

Actually, this feature is used in MGs, but noone notices it because MGs suck... unless it is the mythical 6MG Spider.
I would buy a 6 MG Hero Spider. As long as it could core an Atlas in mere seconds. It has been said to do that...

If they're hardcore enough that they end up playing the game with 2 fingerless stumps then I'll give them some respect and **** just for the dedication shown to trolling.
They'll still have the necessary dexterity to play that style by slamming the stumps down on the space bar and chosen I-win mouse button.

But what should happen is removal of the Zoom function.
Not to be confused with the Zoom module, but remove basic zoom from all mechs and you are set. You'll see less sniping and more multi tiered gameplay.

There are two main culprits in the Carebearitization of games. Misguided "everyone should be equal" kind of people that think that anyone that plays the game should have an equal chance to "win". Therefor they think anything that lets people be "elite" is bad. Things like aiming, or complex movements that can be strung together. If its too complicated for the lowest common denominator they don't want it in the game. The other suspect is the player that always blames anything that goes wrong with their game on the game. They can't accept the fact that maybe they just aren't that good at the game so they start grasping at reasons why they lost. Too many poptarters, cheese builds, whatever they can try to pin their bad play on they will. These two groups play off each other, some belonging to both groups.
Their favorite attack against the people that want to be challenged, or want to be good at the game regardless of what rules are in place is that they are elitist, white knights etc.
Any attempt to say "buck up little camper and try harder you can win more" is met with utter disdain from the game nerfers. After all they are looking out for the little guy, or are good players but the mechanics of the game are against them... at least in their own minds.
