CBT had melee combat, most mechs (those with hands), could punch and kick when weapons were destroyed or depleted of ammo. PGI gas said this would be difficult to add, but I was thinking they could easily adapt it by listing them as weapons with a very short range and would strike wherever your crosshair currently is. As with CBT, punching or kicking would cause damage to both mechs with the exception of mechs equipped with a hatchet (Axeman and Hatchetman). All PGI would realm have to add would be collision mechanics for the melee attacks.
This is the #1 feature I'd like to see as my favorite mech, the Hatchetman is absent from the game and melee would add a fun new dynamic to combat when you would otherwise be unable to fight due to loss of all weapons enabling weaponless mechs able to contribute during match play, unlike now where you stand around or run away waiting to be killed.
