This game is reaching a low point. At least ECM was a hard fix for when LRMs were bad, but now I can't even play this garbage anymore. Not a single team wants to advance more than a milimeter and just sit there like lops playing peek-a-boo with heavy weapons.

I don't know what will bring the "brawl" back to MWO, but until something does I'm out.

In the short term, bring something light, with a big engine, and preferable some ECM.

Sneak around to the enemy base. Preferably when your side is hiding behind rocks and the other is giggling and getting their easy kills with PPC spam.

When you set off a cap alert on their base, it'll make them very upset. Sometimes a few will actually break their sniper formation and go chase you. In many cases that'll give a momentary tactical advantage to your side. Some might even find some courage and stop hiding and shoot back.

You'll be screamed at by the other team in all-chat as if you were in World of Warcraft and you fell into the whelp groups and caused a wipe, but it's so worth it.

I have to admit this is a sound suggestion on how to beat the Meta of PPC sniping. I figure get on TS3 and drop with 7 other players willing to mass attack any pop tart or PPC boat they see!

Capping is boring. It's how I won my last match in a 54kph Jagermech because nobody would brawl me so I just walked to the point and won.

MWO is at an all time low.

and I keep winning with that light (like I do in my heavies) by capping... and capping and ZZzzzzzzzz

I don't play lights because I like to fight. I don't snipe because I like to fight. I don't win because I don't like FoTM.

I play for fun, but my version of fun isn't what the game is focused on right now so I'm letting PGI know.

So the players suck because they are falling back on bad gaming styles? It is no the game that sucks. It is the players who are trying to break it. Nobody seems to complain about 2-3 PPCs unless they are on a Jump capable Mech... Why is that I wonder?

Old habits die hard for me, and the saying 'Improvise, Adapt and Overcome' was a staple of mine even before I was a Marine. I have seen a lot of styles of play over the course of 28 years in this Universe, it is why I don't P&M about how "THEY" aren't playing how I want them to!

Its kinda sad too, cause PPCs in moderation are close to what the were meant to be. They are supposed to hurt, they are supposed to kill Mechs quickly. I have mentioned before 6 PPCs in this game is equal to 3 on TT cause of double armor. I know about convergence and all, but it is how much armor total that I have no trouble with. a 3 PPC Awesome is a fearsome Mech on TT. For months it was a joke! Now it is a decently powerful fighter with bad hit boxes.

The only good game I had yesterday is my pug team rushed upper city from the low side and the eneny team rushed upper city as well. The only real brawling match in 20 games. The enemy pug teams were mostly long range ppc mechs that rushed as well so they got picked apart by our team loaded with short range brawlers.

The only game where I didn't get picked apart by snipers.

I so agree with this thread.

Seriously, it's worse than at any point with LRM's

Mo worries. Once the PPC is nerfed, the new beast for the QQ'ers will be the ERLL & Gauss or LL & Gauss Boat. The inevitable is indeed inevitable. LOL :D

Sniping is my advantage with a spidymech. Sniper brats get tunnel vision bad. Lets me flank and pop rear armor all day. If you cannot take the beating head on move around it. I die from other lights more then poptards or boaters.

Funny. I made it to #6 on the Assault board Tues night (got bumped off after I went to bed), primarily playing an entirely brawler 733C. Every weapon I have has a 270m range. And I'm not even that good.

If you want to brawl, it can be made to happen. Yes, even on Alpine. It may take a little more effort and time to circle wide around the sniper line and come in on their flank or rear, but it's a lot more productive and rewarding than standing behind a rock/ridge/building with your own snipers whining about it.

Even as a Raven 3L user, I think its wierd that the only counter to ECM (ppcs aside) is more ECM. Why dont Beagle Active Probes do the trick as they do in tabletop Battletech?

Wrong. Beagle never countered ECM.

I log in to play every couple of days, to see it the meta has changed to something interesting, but that's about it.

Every so often I go an extra day without bothering, and if nothing changes in the next few weeks I guess I'll eventually just forget to log in at all.

Then, on a cleanup spree months later, I'll probably come across the install folder and kick the game into gear. Leave it patching for an hour or so in the background, and see what's happening.

I wonder if anyone will still be playing?

Hey - we just did that with a CDA, a com2d, and a couple of spider 5d's. Went around, drawing some fire. Dispatched the unlucky guy in a bucket trying to stop us, then stepped off the cap to kill a couple of cats (a K2 and a C1) and completed the cap with a 3-4 score.

Glory to the other lance, who fell on the front lines, providing the tactical distraction.

I cannot sympathise with you. I have too much fun brawling. The sniper meta huppens couse of the balistic fix and the highlander. When we get fresh mechs and a missile fix this "problem" will go away

Play Conquest :)
I'm enjoying MWO so much more by avoiding Assault. Which is essentially blob on blob sniper warfare.
