Hi guys, so I am waiting on my Beta status to go live but figure I would do a spot of homework on types of mechs and weapons etc.
I have no prior Mechwarrior experience....
So what would a good intro mech be? What do the varying classes of Mech do?
From looking at a couple of other posts mech fitting is up there with Eve Online for complexity and getting the most out of your mech?
Is there a good guide out there someone can link for me explaining the various mechs, weapons, advantages and what makes a good mech fit and why.
Cheers peeps!
Doh! Just found this http://mwomercs.com/...tting-immersed/
This will be my homework for now....
But any other info gratefuly received!

If you're looking for a good intro 'mech go with a Medium (Centurion, Hunchback, etc.) as they tend to be well armored and armed. Wait to try Assaults (Which though armed and armored to the teeth are ponderously slow), A Heavy (Dragon, which is really just an overweight Medium) could be another option, I'd also avoid Lights for a newcommer until you're comfortable with being in something thats not so much built to take a hit (There are exceptions) but are suited for recon and spotting for indirect fire. But really depends on your playstyle.
If you like Scouting, Lights or a Fast Medium
Support Fire, Medium-Heavy (Especially if you like missiles)
Front Line, Heavy-Assault (For working in the thick of battle)

Hmm, while there are some good sites out there for in-depth explanations on the 'mechs, one important thing to remember is not only the overall class roles, but that each individual 'mech is uniquely tailored to fill in a specific role. Whether that be a harassing role, annoying the enemy as much as you can and dealing damage in the process to aid your team. A scout role, where you spot enemies for your allies. A "bruiser" role, to run in and pound the enemy while soaking up fire. Or a fire support role, to aid your allies with indirect fire weapons like LRMs. Some 'mechs are "Jack of All Trades" style 'mechs, designed to fill in any role adequately although, not necessarily, supremely well.
Assaults tend to be the bruisers and heavies tend to be bruisers, fire support, or jack of all trades 'mechs. Mediums tend to be able to be any type of 'mech, so that class has a lot of each style of 'mech. While lights are usually the scouts or harasser 'mechs.
