I had been switching out between a HL and a treb but on last drop I had become distracted and did not look at who was in the drop and what mechs were being used. It is Conquest on Caustic map and we were at Gamma. As a light heads off to east cap I head out to the cap in the crater with others.
I got there first and take some incoming first from a Cent and a Treb. I realized my CT was red, returned off and headed over the lip of the crater to the west, realizing most of the unit had also gone that way instead of coming up the middle. I weave in and out, turn around and took up the guard outside right, firing away with PPC, med laser and ssrms. I was wondering why my HL gauss was not firing, thought maybe it had been destroyed earlier. Looked down and no gauss rifle at all, hmm, did I forgot to put it back when I was in the mech lab earlier? (shrugs)
Rounded the crater and flanked the enemy, firing and jumping away. We eventually chased the last cent and jag down that ended the drop. The score board came up and I looked at what I scored and such, which at that time I came to realize, as it was listed right there that I had not been in a highlander but my treb. That explained why my CT and other armor had damaged so quickly, since originally I did not get a good look at the mechs at the initial encounter to see maybe I had been hit with enemy gauss or AC20 in the crater.
I cracked up laughter, even ROFL in general chat. Others had ROFL?? I was able to get out before things ended saying the following " I had thought I was in my highlander, had wondered where the frack my gauss rifle was at, not realizing I was actually in my Treb
Remember, I had been first to the cap in the crater, thinking I was in a HL and could take some punishment but with the constantly moving, jumping and dodging that I had not looked at all the details on the mech's paper doll. I certainly should have been destroyed in those first few minutes of combat but I wasn't
Ok, now I am having my first beer for the day.
Anyone like to share their experiences ?
