Hi!

I'm not exactly a new player, however, I am quite new at painting mechs (and stuff in general but that's another subject).

I looked at the buccaneer pattern, and it seems to me I have to buy the pattern AND all three buccaneer colors to use it, which would be about 4000mc for a paint job.

Also, I was lead to believe the "single use" was for as long as you don't change it. Am I right or is it 125mc for 1 game?

Thank you!

Okay, here's how this works. First off the pattern does NOT require those colors. You can use any colors. However if you do not have any colors, it will switch your colors to encourage you to make that purchase. (But those colors are insanely overpriced, brighter versions of the PC Gamer colors).

You are better off using colors from the list on the second tab, from any of the categories (but all the cheap ones from other categories are under "Standard.").

Personally I collected a bunch of colors during sales -- since colors themselves are permanent (buy once and have 'em for any mech, anytime, as many times over as you please) -- and use the colors whenever I see fit.

Using colors from the standard list reduce your cost to a maximum of 1,250 + 500 MC per paint. You can do the one time use to lower the price even further, but if you ever plan on collecting the mechs or paints, it'd just easier to do the 1,250 option.

However 1,250 is the price of the premium custom patterns with the fancy writing or the skeletons or what have you. They're meant to be rare, and because they are fancy they are not cheap. You can just as easily snag the 750 MC camos, or even better snag them during 30% or 50% off sales which there seems to be 3 sales on different things over the time of 3 weeks in a month. It's not that long of a wait.

The "single use" pattern is "as long as you don't change the pattern or sell the mech." Once you do either, you lose the pattern.

The "Unlock" pattern is "You own this and can put it on and take it off as often as you please, on any variant of this Chassis."

Personally I take quite a bit of pride in my paints.

A few of the recent ones.

Thank you very much. It's still 15$ for a paint job, which is a bit too steep for me.

Wait for a sale. They happen every weekend after patch week. Colors often go half off in categories, or 30% off for all but the newest.

Price ratios. Left is the MC option when you buy. Bold is actual cost to you per 500 MC paint.
1,250 : 6.95 = 500 : $2.78
3,000 : 14.95 = 500 : $2.49
6,500 : 29.95 = 500 : $2.30
12,000 : 49.95 = 500 : $2.08
25000 : 99.95 = 500 : $1.99

A ratio calculator like this one can find the actual price to you for what you tally up.

The patterns and colors are separate. Colors are always permanent, and always affect all mechs on your account. Patterns are on a per-mech basis. The cheap ones are single-use, and last until you change to a different pattern. The expensive ones are permanent for that chasis (and any variants, except hero versions), and you can swap back to them at will indefinitely if you change it in the future.

It will only be 4000MC if you buy the premium colors which are 1000MC each. You can get standard colors for 500MC. There are also other colors that can be bought with CBills rather than MC. And of course, you do not need to buy any additional colors at all unless you want to. By default you already have a basic palette of colors for free.

It is $15 only if you want exactly as pictured...a lot of people don't. They want to use their own colors, not the ones in the samples.

The 75 MC option will last forever if you don't remove it. The one-use one is always a better option unless you know you will be repainting your mech more than ten times

Yeah, the 75 is worthwhile if you're not going to change it (note that you can change the colors!) AND won't want that pattern on other variants. For me, unlock all the way because I just love repainting my mechs.

this was very helpful info! I will be watching for sales on MC, and start picking up some colors.. I had a great combo using red/white/black/grey.. Looked so sharp! But right now money is tight.. But i can see playing this game for a long time to come!

Should of spent an extra 15 bucks on the sale last month and stored some MC's.. Hope a MC sale is soon :D
