I have a quad core 2 with 4 gig ram and a gtx250 video card and I thought to myself I just need more ram so I checked my motherboard and the max you can use is 4 gig grrrrrrr :).
So my question to you fellas is can I use a usb memory stick to help out when playing games?
Or do you think my rig may just be able to run it?

A new comp is outa the question because I have just got divorced (papers came thru on monday) and Iam skint for the next year or two .

I would check the system requirements lab and compare your system to Crysis 2 or Crysis Warhead, they both utilize the same game engine as MWO. not an exact comparison, but should be pretty close until we see the actual min specs for mwo

Wow I just checked and my comp passed those two tests with flying colours :) (both exceeded minimum specks and into the recommended bit)
Cheers Red  I just hope the game is about that range :D

what quad core2 you running monkeyboy.

I run a Q6600 which *should* be capable (o/c'd to 3ghz of course), and i only have 6gb of ram, but i do have a Ti 550GTS which i got for a fair price i think when my old 8800GTS 320mb died , from a company called Novatech (helps that I'm 6 miles down the road from their head office/shop so saved on delivery costs).

http://www.novatech....50tidi1gd5.html

Doesn't actually resemble the one in the pic, but so far so good.

Obviously the big test will be when the game comes out of course.

ps

coming from Manchester, isn't Aria near you??

just a thought if it helps.

Crysis Warhead, a little olderd but using the exact same engine (Crytek 3) as MWO has a minimum ram of 1gb and recommended of 2gb. Even if they quadruple the minimum for MWO you'll still be in the minimum bracket. Video card, who knows, but passing the recommended for Crysis 2/Crysis Warhead i a good sign. with 2000 beta testers hopefully someone will figure out some of the minimum specs soon :)

4-6 GB is more than most of the market has. Before I built my new rig this month I had 4gigs and could max out every game on the market...

Now I have 16, but that is mostly for photo and video editing purposes.

Core 2 Quad with 4GB RAM and a GTX 250 should game just fine. Don't fret it. Just lower your settings where necessary at beta/launch.

how about "can you run it". I do not know if it will work for you there. select Crysis 2 and press the "can you run it" button.

Crysis Warhead uses the CryEngine 2 not the CryEngine 3.

Only Crysis 2 uses the Cry Engine 3 so that should be the "starting point".

A Q6600, 4GB of Ram and a GTS250 should have no problems running the game using DX9.

Cheers

i wouldnt worry about ram, when you have a 250 graphics card, thats like way weaker then just having 4 gigs of ram.

I wouldnt be worried about the RAM, however that video card might be another story. Maybe its just me but ive got a GTX555M (yes laptop I know) with a core i7 (1st gen dont ask specifics im too lazy to go look it up) but i have to run MWLL at minimum graphics with no AA to even get a decent framerate... and thats only on the Cryengine 2, MWO runs on Cryengine 3. So Crysis vs Crysis 2/3 graphics. THIS is why im building a new computer.

well, one thing to keep in mind is cryENGINE 2 is far less optimized than CryENGINE 3. CryENGINE 3 can take advantage of a GPU's resources, RAM, and CPU threads far better than CryENGINE 2, and as such i'm able to play on my Phenom X4 2ghz laptop w/ integrated radeon HD 4250 at minimum settings.

4 gigs of memory is more than sufficient for most (pretty much all...except maybe minecraft...) modern titles. The real bottleneck is going to be your video mem, its' processor and your processor on the mobo.

i run mwll on my laptop on maxed out settings so i know im good since thats cryengine 2 and its pigzilla resource usage. but i have 2 vid cards and quad i7 @3.6 ghz. the 250 is going to be your weak point given its age, dx9 should run on it minimally though, and cryengine 3 is dx9-11 compatible if they programmed the game to use more then 1 dx, which im hopeing they made it use 11 for my higher end system :P B)

DX11 improves image quality and trades being CPU heavy for being GPU heavy. lol

QFT. That is of course if the game engine being used takes advantage of advanced tessellation. Fortunately the CryEngine 3 engine from MWO uses DirectX 11, but I don't know the extent of GPU-processed tessellation it utilizes.
