AFAIK, despite the state of LRMs, spotting bonuses are still issued for those that use LRMs (and occasionally Streaks I think).

The issue however is that the spotting bonus AFAIK seems to work differently between group fire and chain fire. If you were to chain fire, the bonus is applied per LRM volley that hits the target (factoring in AMS). If you were to group fire, only ONE bonus is applied when the entire LRM volley hits its target. So, if you were to fire 5 LRM20s from a Stalker-5M (not likely to happen, but humor me here), it would be treated differently from a bonus perspective if you were to chain fire each of the LRM20s.

What should happen IMO is that the # of each LRM volleys that hit its target should be countered for the bonus.

A similar thing should happen with the TAG/NARC.. I believe the bonuses should function the same way between chain and group fire.

Spotting bonus doesn't work like that.

You can earn up to 56 Spotting bonuses in a match. That's one bonus per friendly 'Mech with LRMs for every enemy 'Mech. It depends on how many friendlies have LRMs.

It's calculated like this:

If a friendly uses your target lock to fire LRMs at an enemy, you get a Spotting bonus. If two friendlies use your target lock to fire LRMs at that enemy, you get two Spotting bonuses. And so on...

If you have one friendly with LRMs, you can earn one Spotting bonus per enemy, for a total of eight possible bonuses.
If you have two friendlies with LRMs, you can earn two Spotting bonuses per enemy, for a total of 16 possible bonuses.
If you have three friendlies with LRMs, you can earn three Spotting bonuses per enemy, for a total of 24 possible bonuses.
If you have four friendlies with LRMs, you can earn four Spotting bonuses per enemy, for a total of 32 possible bonuses.
If you have five friendlies with LRMs, you can earn five Spotting bonuses per enemy, for a total of 40 possible bonuses.
If you have six friendlies with LRMs, you can earn six Spotting bonuses per enemy, for a total of 48 possible bonuses.
If you have seven friendlies with LRMs, you can earn seven Spotting bonuses per enemy, for a total of 56 possible bonuses.

It doesn't seem to operate as you have described... although what you describe is between multiple LRM boats working together. I'm specifically talking about spotters (usually a light mech) that accumulate XP by spotting the target of an LRM strike. As far as I can tell, you can keep getting XP from spotting LRMs on a target.. which seems to work better when chain fire is involved. I don't see enough LRM boats to see more than one or two on the field.. however that may be, your description doesn't seem to reflect what I see...

What I described is how it's supposed to work, whether the spotter is a light 'Mech or not. You can be an Atlas and still get Spotting bonuses as long as someone else uses your target lock to fire LRMs.

If you're getting multiple Spotting bonuses on a single specific enemy, then multiple friendlies are firing LRMs at it using your target lock.

If there is only one friendly with LRMs, then you are getting multiple Spotting bonuses because you are targeting different enemies and the friendly is firing LRMs at all of them using your target lock.

The only real way to confirm that it is or is not working is if you're on an eight-man premade and you know exactly how many of them have LRMs.

If you can confirm that it's not working right, it needs to be reported to Support.
