Dear developers, dear pilots

I am referring to people who farm cbills by entering a game with a trial mech and then go to afk or even disconnect on purpose. These guys are ruining the fun for everyone and will ultimately cripple the community and this awesome game. Please do something about it so old and new mechwarriors will stick to the game for a long time and everyone including the developers will be happy!

I have been playing games for over 20 years now and have seen giants rise and stay and fall new games. Many downfalls happened because the developers didn´t seem to realise that "the little things" in a game are of at least equal importance to the games main mechanics. We all agree MechWarrior Online´s main mechanics are awesome. Now what needs to be done is to implement the small things as quickly as humanly possible to retain an enjoyable mechwarrior experience for everyone involved.
Like I said earlier, I have seen great games fall down and their community shrink to rot within no time simply because some "little things" were missing. Guild Wars 2 is a similar case. What good is an MMORPG if you cannot inspect (view stats, items, etc) of another player? You want to compare yourself with somebody else.

To relate this to MechWarrior Online: create methods so you can view a friend´s (or better any persons) mechs and loadouts. This will incite community interaction on various levels. No communication/interaction between players and a game is as good as dead.

And as for the original topic here: add a simple timer that detects afk players. If a player doesnt move his mech or gets disconnected within the first minutes of the game he should be awarded no cbills. There may be rare cases where this hits legit players who disconnect early, but for the most part it will eliminate the incentive to afk-farm. If you need to stay in the game and do something it will greatly reduce the number of people afk-grinding their cbills. I am aware that this will not solve the issue 100% put it will reduce the number of afkers/disconnecters by a great deal (80%+ imho).

@developers: please consider adding an anti-afk mechnism this year while a lot of new players are streaming in so noone becomes frustrated. I know you haven´t put that much thought in it because up until now it wasnt neccessary with all the hardcore fans playing. Now that this is open to everyone you need to address such issues!

@pilots: please bump this post or recreate it so the developers know this is a serious issue. Everyone who has played more than 3 games has seen this and is probably equally frustrated about it. Let your voice be heard. The developers are paying close attention to what we are posting here.

Thank you for reading this wall of text. Sincerely,
BlacKcuD - Steiner Atlas Pilot

Yeah -- saw the good old disconnect right away last night several times ... one time 4 people on my team DC'd right away, was a nice 4v7 game (1 dc'd on the other side).

It might have been something with hurricane Sandy...but I can't figure that many people were in the same area losing power at the same time....

Best way to stop farmers is to Remove the incentive to farm, otherwise farmers will farm.

They need to disallow game launch if you don't have 10 heat sinks. You should not be able to click ready.
It stinks for a team to be down a member.

disconecters is something u cant prove...all they will say is their net or comp failed...afk'ers on the other hand are easy to fix.if the afk'ers don't move ..make them a free for all target...(say within 2 mins of game start)if they don't lock on targets or fire at enemy mechs..this will also stop macro'ers..to a point...

Back when you paid C-Bills to repair your mech, did we have AFK farming then? Or, did it start since repair costs went away?

It was around for a long time before R&R was taken away.

Most disconnects are due to legitimate client crashes.

The mechanic that removes rewards for AFK's and Disconnects has been around since December.

it was actually a lot worse when repair and rearm was in the game. not only did you have a lot of afk farming, but you also had a lot of zombiemechs entering games as well.

I get discoed two or three times an hour and have AFK life interruptions three or four time a week. I can count the number of times I've intentionally discoed on one hand and I always had a valid reason. the only time I've seen someone do it on pripose is a guy who stated he wouldn't play on alpine and discoed.

AFAIK, t5he devs track discoes and their causes and have stated there will be penalties for abuse of the system. but that they will "Not" be public
