Greetings fellow Mechwarriors... upon the Jagermech release i have seen people often seem to do a very fast rapid fire of ac/2, and i want to know how this is done. I.E weapons groupings and technique. Anything will help me out.

I imagine it's a macro that fires each AC2 that's in it's own group sequentially.

Probably chain fire.

Not sure... chain fire doesn't work.

On my 4x ac2 Jager, I use my 3 main triggers:

1 fires all
1 is all in chain
1 is just 2 in a group.

I usually chain fire while shooting sloppy, then hold the alpha button once I'm lined up, occasionally backing off to the chain mode trigger or the 2 weapons only trigger.

I enjoy listening to the changing dakkadakka tone...

I wonder what a perfect stagger would sound like, though...

First I put all my AC/2s into Weapon Group 1, and slave that to my Left Mouse click. So when I click and hold Mouse 1, every single weapon will fire continuously at maximum RoF.

Then I add the 2nd AC/2 to weapon group 2, the 3rd AC/2 goes on weapon group 3, the forth AC/2 is on weapon group 4, etc. until all of your AC/2s have their own weapon group number (except the first one, which is just set for weapon group 1). They should still be set on Weapon group 1, as well.

... Then, to stagger fire them all, quickly roll your fingers across the 2->5 keys then click and hold the Mouse button. If you can press all the number keys in sequence and then click and hold the Mouse, all within 0.5 seconds, then they will all stagger beautifully at full RoF.

No Macro needed.

AC/2 boats.. full of sound and fury, ultimately signifying.. a really underpowered gun.

If you really enjoy ACs, check out the UAC/5 instead.

UAC 5 requires me to be able to trigger at 1.1 second intervals, or the gun may jam. When jammed, I'd be defenseless if I was a current target. Further, for 2 UAC 5s tonnage (~10 DPS), I can mount 3 AC 2 (12 DPS). Yes, the AC 2s generate about 3x the heat, requiring more sinks. I'd consider trying a UAC 5 build if there was a way to disable the rapid fire mode so I'd never have a jam. There's also a benefit in the ammo: one ton of AC 2 does 150 points, whereas a ton of UAC 5 does 125.

I may still try UAC again to make sure I want to stick with AC 2.

To do rapid fire without the macro...

I tried using the number keys to start the super chaining process by pressing 3-6 quickly then holding down the 'fire selected' button (which has all AC2s in the same group). The rapid fire works this way (manually) as well as by using a macro. It's a little tricky to get the timing correct but after a few tries it was quite easy...

Here is a pic that shows manual rapid-fire in action (no Fraps, sorry) you can see that I did not quite wait enough for group 6 but you still get the crazy rapid-fire effect of the AC2's.

Macro's just easier until they fix chainfire... just download Autohotkey, takes like 30 seconds to set up. NEVER use chainfire with AC/2s, it's utterly pointless. AC/2 reload is .5 sec, and chainfire is .5 sec delay. That means chainfire of 100 AC/2s is the same as just holding the trigger down for 1 AC/2.

Many people underestimates AC/2. AC/2 boating is very good at suppressing at long range and disorientating the enemy at close range. Also with 4 AC/2s, you're dealing 16 damage per second - that's twice the damage output of 4 Large Lasers!
