Move fast, hit hard and don't fight anything bigger than you that isn't already distracted.
Get improved sensor range module to spend the start of the match scouting.

Here are my 3 - there are also play vids linked with these so you canget a feel for how they handle... I like 'em all and am comfy in them and can usually score pretty well in them. (No dual AC20 or Gauss builds here btw...)

They are somewhat fragile (I run with 400 armor, though) for their class, but deal so much damage down-range, they can hit like a ton of bricks.
Use the high arms to shoot over things, and take advantage of the high weapon convergence they have.
I run with 3 AC2's and 2 medium lasers, standard 260 engine. It works, IMHO.

Seems like a coffin to me. Legs are way underarmoured, will run out of ammo quickly, and very slow. Perhaps meant to hit targets already damaged to score a few kills before running out of ammo, to softening them up before you use the PPC. Definitely made for firing over ridges, but again, with how quickly it would run out of ammo, that will not last long enough. As soon as it runs out of ammo, it would need to go higher to use it's PPC, but it's legs can be hit too easily then.

Your kidding right? I myself am abit of a light pilot, well have been using the highlander mainly recently. Anyways, theres no reason to hate jager mechs, unless your referring to jagers running 5 or more AC2's macro'd for a constant stream. A lot of jagers are easy kills for a light pilot due to their rear armour, to the lack of arm actuators when found alone.

Load 3 ac2 on one arm, and three machine guns on the other with a LL on a torso.
Also, with ac2 and machine guns DON'T F***ING CHAIN FIRE. You fire the same speed chaining as if you didn't because the chain thingy doesn't switch fast enough.
Shooting 3 ac2s is 6 dmg every half second, pinpoint and a max range of over 1400m
To put that in perspective it is same fire rate as chaining 3 ac5s but with 20%more damage per shot with faster shells and much longer range.
The LL and machine guns rip lights apart at close range, and if any light is close enough to ignore the travel time difference, you can fire both the machine gun and the ac2s. Most ballistic builds have problems hitting lights, but ac2s fire so fast you can walk the shells right onto target.
Not just against lights, I can strip 35 pts of armor off of the chest of an atlas when they peak from cover half way across the map easy.
Running heavy ac2s lets you do a lot of damage fast in small bits, because of that expect a lot of kill steals from lance mates with large alpha strikes. But if your cool with lots of assists, one or two kills, and 450-600 dmg a match, the 3ac2 DD is for you.

All it's variants can move at a decent speed, and can carry a powerful, diverse and vast swathe of weaponry.
You can under engine and overgun it, or go all utilitarian and kit it out with as much speed and DPS as possible, whilst finessing armour locations.
It's hitboxes are mixed - huge side torsos mean you need to play conservatively if you aren't toting a larger engine, and even then you need to use the terrain to your advantage. This is made easier by the Yagerbomb's best asset; not it's (BOOOOOOB JOKE) bangin double d's, but the beautiful symmetry of it's excellently placed arms.
You can usually shoot before you can see your enemy, and the tiny hitboxes (for the most part) mean you can min-max your arm armour and save tonnage for ammunition, so your Dakka launchers don't run out of murder fuel at an inopportune moment and leave you looking embarrased, or worse still, uncool. The lack of lower arm actuators can detract from your brawling experience, but really, once you get used to it, the torso twist speed of larger engines lets you mix it up without major issues.
Everything is aligned. You won't see a hint of the Cataphract foot cannon here, meaning the fall of your shots is more predictable, especially with ballistics. The torso mounts are a bit low, so it IS possible to blast the landscape in front of you and present yourself for social ridicule, but anyone laughing to your face can get a double-fist full of dakka in return.
You can also run to extremes: 6 AC2s and a certain nefarious macro are an epic combination. I DEFY YOU NOT TO CACKLE WITH MAD GLEE WHILST FIRING.... except for the whole 'opponent mashing keyboard with hammer in frustration' thing. AC40s are popular for a reason; awesome flavored cheese.
Starting out, you can run slow standard engines and pull your support pants on until you get the hang of things, but the world opens up with XL engines.
Buy it, fill it with UAC5 dakka and various pew-pew and laugh maniacally as you plow through Atlases like a fat kid with a pavlova and a limited window of pavlova-consuming opportunity.

I would recommend swapping the 2 LRM10's for 4 LRM5's, allowing you to remove the 255XL engine for a 285 engine since you don't have any room. You would also be able to fire your missles more since the cooldown time for an LRM5 is shorter then the cooldown form an LRM10, thus more DPS.

Thanks for the tip, soon as I have enough for the engine I'll swap it up. I've been basing my jager builds on the XL255 and the LRM10s fit the weight so I kept em. Gonna try a couple matches with the LRM5s and have some fun.
