Since the introduction of lances, I've noticed the matchmaker matching me up pretty much every round with players who have the same faction designation, so I'm guessing you've been testing that out. How's the testing going so far? Are you satisfied with the first iteration of this new schema for the matchmaker? What percentage of the time are you finding it's able to find players of the same faction to fill out a lance successfully?

This could make a good ATD question. Too bad #38 is already closed.

The faction designation isn't that useful. The best you could do with it is guess who the premades are.

If for some reason there are 3 lances.. it's literally because there are 3 premades.

I see no other correlations with it.

I don't think so as I end up with any house warriors and against even my own.

I think it's mostly the fact FS is the most popular of all houses and therefore the chance of you stumbling upon each other are far greater.

I get matched with/against Kurita players all the time. I can only assume this is because the Draconis Combine is da best.

It's more likely you're facing a pre-made 4 man from a guild and that that guild associates with a House so they have all selected that house. For example next time you see 4 House pilots in a single lance I'd have a strong suspicion it was a 4man.

Do you have actual numbers on this? I'd be curious to see how many people have selected each faction.

FS is traditionally popular, but MWO is a different creature than Battletech lore. If a faction's NPC population directly correlated to the number of PCs choosing that faction, it seems like the FRR would be as big as any house.

The other day I dropped into an 8 man Davion group. None of us were in premades. It was pretty interesting.

A long time ago someone was able to figure out how many registered forum users were in each faction. I think Davion was the clear winner in numbers with FRR and Liao being less than half it's size. But that was many months ago and the numbers may be very different now.
