I understand this is beta but when will they fix the minimap, hud, and crash to desktop bugs?

Once every few games, I experience one of the following bugs: missing my mini map or my mini map was bugging out rotating and disappearing or hud was buggy and arrows over mechs were missing. I just gave up after my friend and I both crashed to desktop last night.

This was not a problem back in January.

We both play other games like Neverwinter and Guild Wars 2 just fine with no issues.

Minimap bugs have not been addressed in ages, and really should, I mean, I got the rainbow mini map bug in training grounds even! The CTDs on the other hand can be caused by any number of things, even incompatibilities and issues with your own machine. Some users may have CTDs no matter what PGI does until they fully upgrade or swap out certain parts or sfotwares from their setups.

They have said that the minimap and hud bugs are problems because of interactions between the game code and the engine code, which is ridiculously complex and difficult to address. If you will look at the known issues forums and the command chair and announcement boards, you will see that PGI is aware of these problems and is actively working to stamp them out, having fixed a CTD issue in Tuesday's patch and giving a soon ® on at least some of the hud bugs.

on the 7th's patch i didn't have any such problem of ctd's or bugs, and I played for a good many of hours. Then on the 9th, I had 2 ctd's interval of maybe 2 hours? no other bugs. We will see what today brings. Although previous to the patch on the 7th, I would crash get bugs back to back so they are narrowing it down, GJ guys. I know ppl have said it in the past and not so far past. Give them time. betas are all about finding bugs.

I get the minimap bugs more often in Testing Grounds than I do any other time.

Once you've tried to run through three different kinds of code that interact in millions of ways and cross interact in many more, THEN you're allowed to call the programmers lazy. Also remember PGI has around 50 EMPLOYEES. That's not 50 code-monkeys, that's 50 PEOPLE. Probably only a few true code-monkeys, in which case, they've been working their butts off to fix this stuff. It just takes time--a LOT of time! If you noticed, one of the issues was CryEngine itself. So not only are they working with code THEY wrote, they're working with OTHER PEOPLE'S CODE.

I think they've done this damn fast.

PS: thanks for the quote Thontor, I was looking for that.
