Thrice now I've been in matches where someone with pings of over 1-3,000~! comes in and lags the rest of the players down.

There needs to be a ping limit set to this game, because there's no way I can play if the server is being lagged by users with low-speed connections. The screen jumping around is nervewracking in the middle of a firefight, I often end up walking into every possible obstacle because of the lag produced by low-speed connections.

Set a ping limit of, I dunno, 400 or something?

I dunno, remember the server is in Canada, so you've gotta put that ping cap pretty high. i'd say 7-800

Ive never seen someone over 400 and I cant imagine how you could have higher really. I am about as far from the server as you can get and I have never been above 300.

lol This takes me back to the days when the first thing heard dropping into any multiplayer instance was often 2 or 3 elitists yelling "Boot laggerzz!!1!!!"

(They were tools then, too.)

Since connection speed can fluctuate (you won't get all of the "Laggers" all the time, it would be way better to send a quick packet to each PC and check system specs before each drop.

If the packet returns info that states, this PC is a Single/double Core, immediately boot them from the Server. That way you get them all, all the time.. LOL ;)

(holy smokes Batman, who would think we could get surprised by the stupidity level, yet again)

I'm sorry, I run a Dual core and the only time I ~ever~ lag is when someone with a ping in the 900 range and higher comes in.
~MY~ PC runs the game fine on lowest possible settings, too, so Iknow for a fact it's not me. If I have to start screencapping these high pings to prove they exist, I will, but anytime you get weird lag, hit tab and look at the pings on the scoreboard, it's likely one or more players is connecting via Dial-up or some ****.

You should really learn to punctuate, and you did tell me what you 'think' (I assume you meant think, unless you're too stupid to know the difference). Contradictory, much? Yeah, thought so. Take a big step back, and **** your own face.

Hmm..maybe, I dunno..I mostly see people with pings in the 45-400 range, though, and don't have any problems. It's when pings reach the 4-digit range that I begin to see trouble in gameplay due to severe spikes in the lag.

Just about everyone that I've seen with a ping greater than 1k disconnects withing 30 seconds of the match starting and all is well anyhow. You can't fault people for trying to play, and quite often the bad ping isn't their issue or a constant for them - so all you end up doing is running off players which is no bueno.

And in turn, peopel connecting to a game they can't support a connection for run players off even more when they're allowed to play with a connection that this game doesn't actually support. Unless they start custom servers soon, that is, so that people with low-speed connections can play together and stay out of low-ping servers.

Unless this is another one of those issues that for some reason everyone else but me gets hammered with, it's not a constant occurring thing, much less a super frequent thing.

I see pings generally in the 130-150 range on the high end with a few in the 400 range every now and again - not game breaking at all. I'm nearly always on the low end of the 30s, but my provider has occasion bouts of massive noise that slows things down for a bit here and there and even on the higher end of the 400s the game is quite playable.

To me this is similar to the - add a kick feature for TKers, it's not a problem we are being overrun with and there is no reason to get all worked up about it, much less force limits that restrict players from even having a chance to play if they unknowingly have a higher ping rate.

I am getting up to 1500 when steam is updating games in the background. When that happens, i AltTab to close steam.
But with the autokick, i would get kicked instantly.
Oh ofc, i could stop steam before starting MWO, or add the game to steam, so it doesn't load updates, but you see the issue?

WOuld optimization of the game itself help? I notice that they seem to take a lot of pride in the texturing of the maps, adding surreal detailing is nice, but it would be nicer if, ya know, we could destroy the terrain, etc., like in previous Mechwarrior incarnations. You don't need the most awesome graphics to have a good game. Right now, it's balance is more toward graphics than gameplay, and that's where a lot of developer's are starting to fail. Halo 4, for instance, was great graphically, but it was too short.

I have a high ping because of my location (around 300 on average), so there's nothing I can do about that.

After the recent patch though this started happening; the game runs great for the first couple of minutes the boom! Massive lag spike. I usually run the game at the 40-50 fps then it would fall to like 4-12 fps. Happens every game recently. Clearing the cache and restarting every game doesn't seem to help. Does this happen to anyone else?

And is there a fix for this? I tried dropping graphics to the lowest possible setting (no AA, effects and everything is set to Low) and it still happens.

By the way (if it matters) my system is Win7 Ult 64 on a Phenom II X6, 12GB RAM, and a Radeon 7950HD.
