Unfortunately the holiday, a hectic work week and out of town weekend guests have killed my availability. We have all the talking points together, so I'm hoping we can knock it out Sunday evening if everyone has an hour or so.
Thank you for your patience.

Is this thread going to be the authoritative source for release of new episodes? I sub to too many YouTube channels so it's hard to keep up. SC RSS will be good (In the context of Google Reader dying soon).

This may sound negative but I really enjoy the podcast, it is very refreshing to hear actual conversation of the state of the game without the PGI rinse I was hearing on NGNG.

I am simply amazed at the level of blow-back regarding NGNG's "current meta" as it were. A while back I thought it was just me...But it's not

Around 1:40:00 you're discussing the following topics:
Elo + Tonnage matching* + Regional servers + Game mode + 4-man v. 8-man v. 12-man + 1PV v. 3PV = "Splintered player base**"
* If they ever do something like this
** In conjunction with perceptions of decreasing player numbers
Nice breakdown of the possible issues and possible, and it could be said fairly, likely outcomes.
Now on
"Hey man. You don't have the numbers. It's not even in yet. It's just YOUR speculation. Just wait and see".
So much of what you've covered meshes with many other conversations I've had across multiple individuals and groups....Confirmation bias? Perhaps. But it matches my experience, and I consider myself to be an objective person who bases their opinion on as much fact as I can get, and Ocam's razor when I can't. Keep up the good work Drop Command.

lol, just kidding. I agree though, I love hearing people speculate. And my thoughts are, if they aren't showing the numbers... they aren't in PGI's favor, otherwise why not show them?
I could be wrong, but that is my speculation based on the burnout I have seen in my and other units.

Different opinions are encouraged. That's what makes for interesting discussions. I'm not a fan of capping inside the first minute of the match, but that's also why I sometimes camp the cap point for kicks in PuG matches. If no one shows up until after the main force engages, I move up to support. It is extremely rewarding to power up and catch a Raven sitting on my cap unaware as my dual AC/20s reduce one of his legs to useless scrap. It's also what motivates me to hop in a Jenner or Cicada so that I can rapidly respond to any enemy scouts.
I'm not against capping because without a secondary win condition, it would be even more of a tonnage arms race than it already is. I know it's frustrating to stomp forward at 54 kph in an Assault mech and have the match end before you can even fire a shot. I've experienced it, and it sucks. But it also isn't much fun (in my opinion) to see matches devolve into two battle lines of Assault mechs trading PPC volleys like they were colonial muskets.
I'm hopeful that some sort of tonnage restriction will help.
Thanks for your feedback, and thanks for listening!
