Something I noticed that MWO lacks is a dedicated in-game system that allows you to easily leave player feedback or report problem players.

My idea is, in the main menu and in the post-match up screen to be able to click on a player's name and leave Feedback. There would be a few Positive feedback options (Honourable Opponent, Teamwork, Friendly, etc), a few non-repercussion options (Lacking Skill, Poor Teamwork, Negative Attitude, etc), and a few Report options (Poor Sportsmanship/Foul Language, Leaving/AFK, Team Killing/Intentionally Damaging Teammates, etc).

While this would mainly be used to report problem players, the non-Report options of Positive and Negative feedback could, either with implementation or introduced down the road, be used to help determine matchmaking (the game will try not to pair you with people you've reported, for example). At the very least feedback could (and, in my opinion, should) be view-able by other players.

I just played a game where 2 premade players decided to kill me even after repeatedly telling them I was on their team. I have their names and I reported them to support, but... It's seriously lame. TKing on accident is one thing, but regardless it should HURT to team damage and kill. Like as in double the gain for damaging/killing your enemy should be the lose for team damage/killing.

A system of snitching? Hell no.

HUDs disappearing after launching game and you can't identify targets? Fix that first.

the language or sportsmanship I don't care about. It's the TKing. But that can be done by automation in game the way I see it

It is unfortunately the MOST IMPRACTICAL METHOD currently to send an e-mail and report TKers. It should be built into the game including having the online equivalent of active support built into to the game.

Simple things like this would at least get you far... but alas, we're still whining about it.

Thanks, but no, thanks. I don't want the game to maintain a criminal record about me. If you don't like my style...you can cry and rot in hell for all I care. If you think I'm disrupting gameplay, remember my nick and tell a game master or whatever they're called. Back up your claim with evidence (screenshot) and you're fine. Now, can we get back to discussing important stuff please?

On XBox Live there are two player ratings: stars, and feedback ratio. I have max stars, and 100% negative feedback. Think about that. It means 99.9% of people who play with or against me don't leave feedback, but 100% of the people who leave feedback leave negative feedback. Think about what this implies about people who report people, and people who don't report.

Edit: Expanding on this post, I think a player feedback system would be a good thing, as long as you accept that it will most likely serve primarily as a way for angry players to vent their spleens besides spewing hatred into chat. The numbers are never going to be reliably meaningful. It's usually a fool's errand to try to solve social problems with technology.

Aside:
Back in college, I played a lot of Halo, Call of Duty, etc. I really don't like players who act all macho, talk a lot of trash, and call anyone and anythign they don't like "***." You probably know the type. The reason I have a bunch of negative feedback is that when people did this, I'd hit on them (I am a guy). Example:
x/DeathStrike\x: "Hahaha, you guys all suck wang you hotpants-wearing sissies. None of you can match my skillz."
me: "Heyyyyy, your voice is kinda sexy. "
x/DeathStrike\x: "What."
me: "With a voice like that you've got to be pretty handsome. You into tall, skinny computer nerds?"
x/DeathStrike\x: "Ugh that's gross man you're ***"
me: "Is that a no?"
x/DeathStrike\x: "***"
me: "Oh yeah talk dirty to me"
*player x/DeathStrike\x has disconnected*

This isn't a word-for-word reproduction or even a paraphrase (this was years ago) but it's fairly representative. I was never obscene, but I seriously, no joke, got multiple people to freak out and rage quit, sometimes getting congratulated and/or thanked by other players. This has more or less completely stopped working, and I take that as a sign that we've progressed as a society and as a species.

VVV Really the game just needs a screenshot feature in general. Also, I know most MMORPGs have systems to log all in-game text chat. When a player is reported for something chat-related the gamemasters can pull the logs from directly before the report and look up what was actually said to see it in context (eg to tell who instigated an argument).

This is a good idea.

Hell the NGNG guys suggested some thing similar for bug reporting a few weeks ago on the pod cast.

A simple command that will give an option to report a bug, or player. A screen shot automatically taken, with time, map, players in the match and a spot for any notes made by the reporting player.

This could be activated in game then held until after the match to be sent.
