As with any bug "fix", I look at this with my usual forecast - 50% chance the "fix" doesn't fix it, with a 90% chance something else in the game will break.

Dead serious, if it works that's groovy - but after 7 months I've learned to keep my expectations of PGI really, really, low.

Still higher than Microsoft though?

Tomorrow should be made a public holiday to mark this momentous point.

If it works I know I'll be dancing in the (River) city streets.

IF.

Well maybe it'll being back a few players.

No it won't. Even if they did, and even IF it works, they'd see that one bug has been fixed - out of roughly a hundred that remain. Not to mention FPS is still crap, DX11 still isn't available, ingame VoIP isn't live, Crossfire / SLI still isn't supported...

etc...
etc...
etc.

That's... a pretty heavy condemnation. Sad but true!

Achievement unlocked: Better coders than Microsoft. Reward: Get better coders - a monkey with a hammer may do the trick. :D

This announcement made me cut my break from the forums short! If the fix works and I have noticeably fewer HUD bugs, then I may buy some MC to celebrate.

Mine were, for the most part, Fixed with a clean install and that mini patch last time. Just getting the rare Crash to desktop and that's not to bad realy.

now if we could get that HSR crap fixed... getting real tired of ballistics damage not being applied to targets.

I reeeally hope this somehow accidentally fixes my framerate issues.

Speaking of which... Didn't you guys say there was better optimization on the way? I would totally get all my friends to play this game if I knew anyone with a computer good enough to run it.

Edit: Nope.

Looking forward to the 1,600 word brief... I love me some technical details.

Well, it might go something like this.

"We made a mistake in the code 5-6 months ago, but rather than address it (or fix it at the source), we kept going with more content. Our line of work consists of working on a build always 2 phases ahead of the actual live build that you all play. As we patched our games, we were stacking it on top of the build you guys were playing and the bad code stayed long lost among stacked and more stacked codes.....hence why it took so much because we needed to dig way deep into our mistake."

Wait a second here.... Think of all the mini games we're losing!

If we have a working HUD, the 'Memory Game' is gone! You know, the one where we have to memorize all the mechs we dropped with, then remember who NOT to shoot during the drop. GONE!

'The Mystery of the Missing Mini Map' will be completely unplayable if it works all the bloody time. No more wandering around trying to give target locations by sheer estimation or terrain feature reference.

'Fun with Shapes' has already been removed. No more trying to see the mystery picture hidden behind all the random geometric shapes....

And, without the 'Rainbow' feature, how will PGI show their support for GLBT rights?!?!

Well, I for one, am saddened by this change. I hope that the mini games will be replaced by other features that are just as entertaining and useful as these wacky, unexpected additions to the game.

Does this fix also include the fix to the epileptic seizure tempting flickering terrain textures in Frozen City?

If only. Problem is, WE know that, THEY don't. :)

Does this fix resolves a problem of hud eating up a third or eaven half of FPS?
