All to often I see extra credits videos being used to point out something people think that pgi is doing badly. I just watched one where I thought that pgi might be doing something good.
In the video They talk about differences in kind, or when the feel of the game changes. This appears to be something that mwo has in aces. Just making a mental list different weapons, different game types, different maps, different weather conditions, different chassis. All these things change how the game feels to you, sometimes greatly. Yet it doesn't seem to be as in your face as counter example given. For that reason I would say that mwo does differences in kind really well.
I do have to wonder about that part of the video where he claims god of war is better because of crappy puzzles. You could say that mwo is better because of crappy base caps, but I tend to think that maybe mwo needs a crappy card game to go with the power mech fantasy. Like how kotor had pazak is there something that mwo could have. A question to all of the battletech fanboys out there. What do the mechwarriors do when they are not in battle mechs? Get drunk? Get into fist fights? Play paper rock scissors? Any ideas? Thankyou for reading this have a great day.

All those things in a game creates one thing - immersion.
The truly great games add the finer things that suck you in and make you feel part of their world. Take for instance the latest Aliens game that failed - all the critics agreed that the preview Colonial Marines really immersed you in the Aliens world, the lighting, the atmosphere, the details. Upon release all of that was missing and the game was universally panned.
MWO still has a long way to go, for me, to totally pull me in and make me say "hell yeah, this IS Battletech".
Although I realise that there's a lot more coming in the next few months and I'm still enjoying the game a whole lot.
I'm still satisfied with the game and having fun.
And I realise that no-one will make a perfect MW title for me except me. Meaning this is PGI's vision and their game. When I have a spare few million I'll probably get some developer to make my vision of a MW game. Either that or start learning how to program.

great point. although role warfare is changing, its disappearing because there is no reason to just not take more assaults.

Yes, either force matches to include a balanced team, or make all classes viable.
I love running mediums because they feel good, but they are lacking in power and general efficiency compared to say a cataphract, that heavy is about the same speed but the weapon and armour is greatly superior.

Are you talking about minigames within MWO? I'm not sure this is practical or even necessary, although something small to do in the client "on the side" when we're not actively playing might be nice. I'm just not sure what it could be.
Perhaps Solaris-style gladiator matches where other players could watch as spectators, maybe even bet some MC on who will win...
But as Nauht-san said, this is just a matter of immersion, and this can be achieved by means other than minigames and such. For example, I do believe that the upcoming Community Warfare, once it is finally released, will do much to strengthen the role and meaning of the factions, allowing players to better identify with their chosen side and even engage in (hopefully friendly) banter with the enemy. Improved social functions such as global chat channels in the client would help a ton, too, catering to a number of purposes ranging from help for new players to faction talk all the way to custom channels for whatever somebody feels talking about.

Mwo is in a lil bit of a lull atm in that respect, there is the feeling that we need more game modes, which in turn needs cw to flesh out said game modes.
That said assuming the current production schedule is adhered to, pgi is doing it right giving us a 6month or so gap between cw and clan content from the perspective of maintaining player interest.
