Yeah so i didn't realize that when i sold my Trebuchet 7K, I needed 6 more Mech XP to unlock all the basic variants...man was i a noob back then. Now i've just purchased a 5J and I want to master this chasis. I put a STND 295 on it, FF, Endo, 5 MLs and an SRM4 with a ton of ammo. nice and fast at 95.5 KPH and some good firepower from those lasers. I really don't want to have to buy an XL engine for this mech because I'm deathly afraid of them. Don't know why, don't care, all I know is that the only mech I'll ever use an XL in is my CN9-D. So any good builds with the STND295, or the stock STND 250 in my 5J that i could try?

Could try;
-2 Large Lasers
-3 Medium Lasers
-STD250
-5 JJ
-Max Armor (-2 in the legs)
-Endo Steel
-13 DHS
Or with a XL300 you can fit 3 more DHS and get more speed.
I've done well with that build.

XL work pretty fine on the Treb. I never lost a side torso in my Trebs.

yea Treb is suprisingly okay with a XL, when i pilot mine what kills me is almost ALWAYS CT, ive died being legged more often then from side torso's.
it also really opens up alot more options when it comes to using trebs.
how about you take the XL out of your cicada and try it in the treb dont know rating on your cicada XL engine though

Buying this mech singlehandedly reinvigorated the game for me. I run the following:
XL 320 (had it laying around...325 is an extra HS)
Endo
16 DHS
5/5 jumpjets
5 ML
SRM 6
336 armor
103.6 w/o speed tweak
14 open slots
Gotta jump around with it and stay mobile...very fun mech once you figure it out. You can kinda do the same thing with a 7M but I use 1LL, 2ML 3 SSRM 2s 11DHS 336 armor 103.6 w/o speed tweak on that.

First thing I'd recommend is to scrape up another ton and get a 300 engine. Being able to stuff another heat sink in there will increase your effectiveness, and may help a lot if you are tight on crits.

All the Treb models are great for XL engines.
Generally speaking the Treb's have small side torsos, and bit arms to soak up shots.
The 5J is my favorite.
Jumpjets are a must.
I float between
2 PPCs
3 Mediums
SRM6
And the standard
5 Meds and SRM6
The only real difference is how fast I want it to go. From a 255XL on up.
And don't sweat the XL's, generally the only mech that is emphatically "NOT" worth running an XL in is the Stalkers due to being pure torso's. Other mechs both have their pro's and the con's for running them and if you find yourself die'n to Center Torso shots before anything else is caved in, then chances are it's good for an XL.
