is c.a.s.e broken?

I know it is there to contain ammo explosions and prevent it from spreading through the mech, i mean that's what it is designed to do right?

So why does my founders atlas keep being destroyed by ammo explosion when all i have in the way of explodeable ammo is 2 tonnes of srm+artemis ammo contained in the left torso where the c.a.s.e is situated, standard or XL engine same situation if the left torso is damaged enough to cause an ammo explosion i is dead.

Talk about an assault mech with a glass jaw
So all you sharp shooters out there, if you see a founders atlas mech, hit his left torso for the quick easy kill :D if they are storing ammo there that is.

CASE does absolutely nothing for you with an XL engine. It also does nothing to prevent damage transfer from other damage types.

CASE stops ammo explosions (and Gauss Rifle explosions) from transfering into the CT from either the LT/RT side it is equipped on.

Based on this, that means an ammo explosion will blow off a side torso, then not transfer damage to the CT. But sense the LT/RT has 3 engine critical slots with an XL engine, and 3 critical hits to the engines kills the mech, CASE will not protect an XL engined mech.

If you are using CASE and ammo explosions are killing your STD engined mech, make sure the ammo explosion is not from the Head or CT. Then make sure you have CASE installed on a correct side that ammo could possibly be destroyed from.

If all the above is true but your STD engined mech still dies, then bug report it.

Does anyone know how CASE works when used with Gauss Rifles? Since the ammo doesn't explode, does it prevent the rifle explosion from transferring?

Yes it does. But remember, that is only transfering to the CT.

case + xl is useless. storing non-gauss ammo in an Atlas side torso is risky. Most people shoot Atlas side torsos by instinct now. The case should prevent all explosive damage from transferring to your center torso though. I am assuming you aren't foolish enough to store explosive ammo in your center torso.

Hey, I do that on some mechs. And the reason why is because if people are hitting the CT internals, I should be already dead. Plus, there is only a 10% chance of an ammo explosion when ammo takes 10 points of damage (or if a section of internal structure is removed).

Meh, I have both UAC and SRM ammo in my CT and I always check my cause of death. One death via ammo explosion in the last few weeks. It happens rarely enough that I don't even think about it any more. I have more problems with ammo explosions in my legs than in my CT and usually when that happens it's not enough to kill me outright.

Ammo locations:
Head for first used ammo (UAC in my case)
Fill legs.
Spare ammo in CT.
