An odd request I know. but those of us born left handed are not just "left handed" we think left...react left... in the table top I always "Re-armed" my mechs (Yes you have been "Pun"ished...twice now actually.) if possible.

and it'scanon too. I seem to recal tow examples fro the books.... though specifics elude me.

I'm not sure what your suggestion is. Is it:
  • Be able to use mirrored designs?
  • Switch left arm and right arm hardpoints?
  • More hands?

Just re-map alpha-strike to Q or something. I have group 5 assigned to Q and Group 6 assigned to E. I use them constantly... Plus my alpha strike is on the left side. How much more left handed you want to be?

Maybe you want to swap the arms around on the centurion, for example?

switching the primary weapons to the reverse side would suffice...but mirrired would be perfect.

it takes a conscious effort for most lefties to think and react "right" we tend to turn left dodge left take cover left (rich means to the right side exposing our left arms actually. ETC

Kurbutti it's more complicated than tht. we're wired differently. In a chaotic firefight I often find myself in cover with the right arm blocked three of my mechs (And the ones I play most) have main wepons in the am. even the hunchie is handed.

this gose along with color control of the hub for those of us with colorblindness. it's a comfort issue.

I'm not sure how you would swap the sections.

Let's just say this would indirectly buff the Hunchbacks (if you allow swapping stuff in torsos) and other torso-specific mechs, because you'd have to figure out which side of the hunchy to shoot at.

Also, there are other issues... like if you were to strictly swap arms only, the weakness of the Highlander (being right side powered) would alter its dynamics significantly.

Agreed.

Nothing against Lefties, but part of the game is knowing how certain mechs are built, and thereby knowing how to attack them. Even if it forced the swap of the entire loadout, so as to avoid the second part, the first would still apply. I wouldn't support the idea.

like I said mirror image would be best. and since the game is already implementing weaponry actually macthing in th graphics it wouldn't be an issue. the Highlander already shows what it carries as does the Jeager mostly. I suspect the BJ will too.

You want your chest lasers to fire out your rear instead?

I think this would be a completely reasonably addition, but at the same time lots of games have two groups of abilities, with one for one hand and the other to the other hand. Especially in sim games part of the challenge of the game is maintaining situational awareness, keeping track of what your current options are, and in general thinking like you're in the mech/plane/whatever. A tank sim that let you put a tank's coaxial machine on the opposite side as the real tank is that much less of a sim. This isn't objectively a bad thing; I'm just trying to explain how the feature could possibly conflict with PGI's vision for the game.

Tl;dr: if you constantly forget your mech's configuration, that's a failure on your part.

Side note: if you don't have your weapon groups mapped so left mouse button fires your left side and right button fires your right, you're a weirdo. By default Skyrim was set up so right used left and left used right and it was really obnoxious.

it has nothing to do with remembering. it has to do with reflexes. did you know that lefties suffer vastly more injuries and deaths in auto accidents in the US. guess why? we turn left when confronted with an obsticle. it how our brains are wired.

and how thw mouse buttons are setup is not an issue. when I'm snipinf or slipping in and out of cover by plan there is no conflict it's when I'm dodging. and maneuvering in a hotfast firefight reflexes take over...ighties go right. lefties go left. this favours right handed mechs as it should in general.

Sadly this would buff chassis like the highlander

and MAJORLY buff the CTF-3D, as its ballistics would be twice as hard to remove. (if using std engine)

so not gonna happen
