I agree with Pinselborste. Heat cap should be more or less halved so you simply cannot alpha multiple huge energy weapons - no matter if they are of the same type or not. Then make the heat dissipate faster.

guess it will be time to remove the Heatsinks and add more PPCs to remain viable, should be the other way.

would be nice to hear what the devs expect from these changes.

It won't make a difference at all. Lengthening cycle times only affects brawling not snipering.

Haven't seen a sniper yet go all match without encounter a single brawler up close...it will make a difference when you go toe to toe

Multi-PPC snipers are limited by heat in brawl so slower recycle is quite meaningless to them.

Lowering the cool down was what many of us wanted in the first place prior to the heat buff. Now, what you have is a long ranged heavy energy weapon that is cooler than it should be with a longer recycle time which allows for even more cooling. This isn't meant to reduce PPC boating as the higher cooling efficiency due to longer recycle time is no different than that of the Lrg Laser or ER version.

The addition of heat for firing multiple weapons at the same time isn't anything new. In fact, they toyed with the idea back in Closed Beta. I don't much mind this concept but it will hurt some builds (ie, Swayback) that are intended to boat several weapons of the same type. Furthermore, the issue isn't really heat but rather that PGI is allowing people to build frankenmechs of assinine proportions. There is only one mech in the entire game that is centered around more than 2 PPCs and it is the Awesome. And, to my knowledge, there is no mech in game that had a stock build centered around more than 2 Lrg Lasers. Yet, we're allowed to run these without repurcussions. Added heat, by itself, won't do anything. So, either add in heat and put in heavy drawbacks from doing so or go back and restructure the weapons capable of being carried in hard points.

Poptarts will be affected!!! At least the really good ones.

I fire as I am going up and, depending on my cover, I am usually able to get off one more shot before I loose sight.

Now am I against the recycle rate increase? Nope, the shorter recycle rate when compared to other high damage weapons was out of kilter was one of the things I listed in of my posts. On top of that is the heatscale issue and the ability to generate a ton of heat without consequences.

Slightly off topic, but I've been wondering...when did using two of the same weapon in a loadout become considered 'boating'? My Raven has two medium lasers, two Streaks, TAG, thus it's a medium laser boat? Cataphract 2X with two PPCs, large laser, two Streaks, is a PPC boat? I thought a 'boat' was referring exclusively to a mech that used 4 or more of the same weapon and nothing else, but apparently two PPCs (and who cares what else that mech has) is considered a "PPC boat" nowadays?

Is this like the Dawn of War 2 discussions where the term 'blob' went from "5-6 infantry squads packed into the same area" to "you have more than one of the same squad on the entire map, you're blobbing!"?

I have a hard time believing that even a mech that is in danger of overheating will not try and get the kill or at least strip some weapons by alpha'ing as soon as they can in a brawl even if it means shutting down. An extra second is an extra second and will make a difference when you can't get that shot off in time. I think "meaningless" is a stretch.

Nerf? I see it more as a buff. It will allow people to mange heat better. I don't think that is will change much, but it's a step in the right direction.

it will nerf mechs like the awesome wich dont strip armor of a whole component with a single alpha strike and will not affect the 6 ppc stalker.

Well of course this change hurts even 6 PPC Stalkers a bit. But it hurts those that use 1-2 PPC's more. And it hurts pop tarts less than those that go to rumble. If anything, this change further increases the current meta game of boating and pop tarting.

The main issue is that you can put 60 damage to an area the size of a mosquito up to 800 meters instanteously no matter how fast you moved your crosshair there. This change doesn't fix that at all.

solution would be to reduce heatcap a lot and greatly increase hit disipation granted by heatsinks, that would solve the problem with the 6 ppc stalkers and so on, reducing fire rate just increases the need to boat as much as possible.
