machine gun<- - - - - - - - - - ->small laser
0.5 tons<- - - - - - - - - - - - - ->0.5 tons
[+pro] slightly more dmg<- - ->[+pro] infinate ammo
[-con] ammo 1 ton ea<- - - - ->[-con] slighly less dmg than mg

Having been the one to create a certain sig based on MadPanda's artwork, I have been not been very vocal on this issue, but I feel I have to say, doesn't the above make sense for a balance model for mg?

The other balancing mechanic could be weapon health I suppose, but weapon that does nothing but is hard to destroy is still weapon that does nothing.

And I'm Done!

PS. by machine gun doing more damage than small laser, I mean damage per second, counting for the time small laser needs to recharge, IOW a single burst of small laser will do more damage at first but in the long run machine gun does more damage. Its only fair being the same weight AND requiring ammo.
