Recently I upgraded the engine in my Cataphract from a STD 310 (a previous upgrade) to a STD 325. I had played at least 40 games with the 310 in, so I have a good idea of how durable my Center Torso was. After installing the 325 and playing a few games I realized I was being cored much faster than before. I've done nothing to change the armor values on my mech.
My question is: Is there any information to suggest that larger engines result in a less durable center torso?

Larger Engines = Fragile Mech?

Should be no difference at all.

The only thing that comes to mind is that you're probably charging faster into battle and getting yourself killed quicker... this is more mental than anything.

In hind sight, the first time I noticed it was when I rounded a corner and met two Stalkers head on. The next time was a Stalker and Highlander.
...
Perhaps more field testing is required lol

It's not the centre you have to worry about its the weaker side armour, it's a risk reward equation does the higher speed and increased weapon load outweigh the increased risk of being cored.
Only you can make that call based on your own play style.

I understand that that is how things would work for an XL engine, however I'm using a STD engine, so the issue is not being cored on hits to the side torsos.
After playing more games it seems that Deathlike hit it right on the nose. I was just hurling myself into the matches faster than I used to lol.

Heh heh heh, that's pretty funny actually. Especially when it's happened to me before, being used to going at a certain speed where my teammates would get ahead, not pay attention to them all behind me. Though this was months ago (last year), and hasn't happened to me since
Now that you realize the problem, you should be able to notice this better, and keep yourself from running in suicidaly, like how when someone puts in the wrong missle ammo for an SRM or a streak SRM, and doesn't do so again.

Being faster just means you get dumped in the meatgrinder before everyone else.
