I have always assumed this to be the case but maybe I was wrong? :lol:

Anyways here goes:

Situation 1: (minimum cool down)

A ppc that has never fired before would generate 8 heat.

Upon allowing to cool, and immediately firing again (minimum cool down of 3 seconds) it then would generate 9 heat this time.

The next time it fired (minimum cool down of 3 seconds) it would generate 10 heat.

Situation 2: (Optimal cool down)

However if the weapon were allowed to fully cool before the next firing the situation would be as follows.

A ppc that has never fired before would generate 8 heat.

Upon allowing to cool, and immediately firing again (minimum cool down of 3 seconds) it then would generate 9 heat this time.

This time the ppc is given a chance to rest for 4 seconds instead of 3. It fires and generates 8 heat.

... 3 more times at minimum cool down the weapons is generating 11 heat per shot.

its given 4 seconds to cool, and is back down to 10 heat per shot, or perhaps 5 seconds to cool and back down to 9 heat per shot. ETC:

==========================================================
With this the first volley would generate normal heat. However the next volley would generate greater heat if only minimum cool down is done.

However, doing this, heat becomes a result of minimum cool down versus number of identical weapons fired. Identical weapons fired causing more heat makes no sense in my opinion, however, weapons only given the minimum cool down and firing off creating more heat before they fully cool down the next time does.

Take another example the 8 med laser hunchback.

Thus if you chain fired 8 medium laser each would have a chance to cool down normally and generate the normal amount of heat by the time the next medium laser is back online.

However if you repeatedly grouped fired your weapons while giving them only the minimum cool down, each laser, (and each volley as a result) would generate greater and greater heat becoming unsustainable.

However with this your could fire sets of 4, with each volley only generating the normal amount of heat as you chaining the groups gives the first group a chance to cool off.
