Thinking TT adapts better to RTS isn't a reason.
All the damage and armour ratings and..well..much of the game is already set and balanced in regards to the mechs and game play.
Not sure how that "doesn't" work.

I'm perfectly fine with them modeling the foundation on tabletop because tt has been around for a very long time. people are familiar with it and it already has a long history of success and failure, which means in terms of gameplay the piranha guys have it easier than starting from brick one.

Certainly things are going to be modified (the devs have said as much and it is surely necessary: TT needs to be translated to work properly), but most of what is worst in previous MW titles has been due to straying a bit too far from the TT roots (heat/ammo etc.).
Old MW titles still do what they've always done: time to make it a little more interesting. What you should worry about is them making the same thing you've already seen (they're not; that's clear).

I can envision one: I would vastly prefer a simplified "your cockpit is your lifesupport" system than worrying about a hull breach from any hit while fighting in a vacuum.
I suppose setting fires as a tax on people a few years behind on their hardware and driver updates would be mean.
On the other hand, if I have mech with hands, I might want ot uproot a tree and go clubbing.

These are great when each player is controlling 4 or more mechs on the table, but when you only have your own mech to pilot, having some stupid Commando sneak up on you and force you to shut down would be frustrating as heck.
No one likes game mechanics that prevent them from playing.
