it may be just me but...

obvious cash grab is obvious, and it's really leaving a bad taste due to the current meta, which probably isn't going to change for the next few months.

ok, i can get past the heavy metal, flame, ilya, X-5, and the YLW, but this is starting to boil my blood as it just smells like a "cash grab" on the current meta. (and don't you dare try and tell me a AS7-RS does it better, cause it doesn't)

In what way is this STK better than the others?

It looks like it has a Ballistic slot instead of extra energy/missiles, that does not really seem all that awesome given the high alpha STK builds that are already out in the wild.

That and I said it first.

But honestly PGI, we regularly have drops now where 65 tons is the lightest 'mech on the field, I mean it's nice that one light can't take down 2 or 3 heavy/assaults on his own anymore but until things balance out... how about you focus on some medium mechs. I'd love a new medium, not a pseudo medium either

ha. my only complaint is that its the third assault hero mech. They only have one light hero, 2 meds and 3/2 heavies. We had an assault hero mech last month so this don't make sense. I like that people are saying its an obvious cash grab. Well ok how are you spending your money. Oh you probably aren't so.....

That response is pathetic. You know damn well this post is about making people pay money to access weapon types on chassis they would otherwise be unavailable on.

Blah, blah, blah.

the RS has more tonnage to play with, more torso twist, FULL arm motion to utilize it's energy mounts, an extra missile slot, and more max armor. how is the RS not better? i suppose the new stalker can mount an extra large laser too, but doesn't have the tonnage to supply the heat sinks it needs, and you have 4 degrees more torso pitch. <-not seeing a substantial reason to invest in the new stalker.

i'm in between having vassago come in here and tell you every single thing that'll happen in a atlas vs. stalker fight, or just assume you've never seen a ridge humping stalker before...

Which as I said earlier, is a ridiculous idea because this hero mech was probably in the works months ago and planned for release this month

they probably have like 5 or so hero mechs ready to go, just now it seems they've figured out that can start cashing in on the meta, and all without any negative backlash...

Oh, bring Vassago.
I always enjoy reading his commentary.

atlas walks up beside stalker. stalker can't turn his head. atlas shoots stalker with impunity.

stalker fires twice, then is forced to cool down. atlas fires more because he has 15 more tons to put into heat sinks or ammo.

atlas takes the first 2 full volleys of 55 with almost no internal damage because he has far more armor on all of his torso sections than any stalker.

i suppose if we go with the moron fight where they roshambo from opposing ridge lines then the moron with the stalker wins. any decent pilot in an atlas who actually uses the LEGS will beat the crap out of that stalker. the great thing about the ridge humpers is they are too dumb to move (mostly), this makes them incredibly easy to aim at.

ridge humping is not new. it has been around at least since i started in early closed beta. the only difference is now we have other mechs besides the catapult K2 doing it. caustic has always involved some sort of ridge humping for at least a portion of the match. both frozen maps also were hump fests unless one of the teams went entirely into the cave. early river city, it was common for the high side team to sit in the upper city and focus fire down the other team. forest colony had the hill with the tower that always collected at least a few "snipers". now people just whine more. <-actually i doubt that has changed any.

first it was the gauss rifle, then it was the UAC5, now it is the PPC. nothing has changed but the in game effects for the "sniper" blast. (ok they did give one assault jump jets, but that isn't really the conversation here)

but please do "educate" me.

$30 is just too expensive to buy a single mech in my opinion.

I must agree with others on this. The Misery isn't that spectacular. I've seen a lot of them, but I'd rather have any of my other stalkers than a misery.

To clarify: the point OP is talking about is the insane survivability of a stalker do to its shape that the humanoid atlas doesn't have.

However, OP did bring up a fair point...I've noticed a lot less lights on the field (Usually 1-2) per game and much more heavy/assault. This isn't so much an issue, it would just be nice to see it shift towards medium-heavy to reflect the actual nature of Battle tech combat.
