Well, on this and on other game forums I have heard that calling out the devs, or causing a ragestorm or whatever, doesn't get you to make your point any better and will not reach the devs.
But I believe this is just something the developers on those games like to claim to avoid it happening too often. Because I've seen it work to get responses quite a few times.
Of course, getting a developer to reply in your thread might not give any actual results in the game. But can it hurt your chances?
Just because things change occasionally when there is a rage storm, it doesn't follow that a rage storm causes things to change.
Questions and Answers is where things get changed here. Dev's might come here and read the posts (or at least have the good ones filtered directly to them) and get an idea and implement it in some form but that doesn't mean they have to give anyone credit or even acknowledge a post or a user's idea. In Q&A it happens and I think that's commendable. A lot of other forums don't even come close to that level of interaction.
There's no way I'd be in here reading posts if I were a dev. I'd be getting a forum mod to forward me the very good ones occasionally which I'd probably have to check in my own time because at work I need to be working on the game. And then I'm expected to respond to any that give me even a flicker of inspiration?
Seriously?
We've all been frequenting game forums for as long as there have been game forums. How many times can you really name it when any forum-wide rage on any game has got what it wanted? What about those times compared to the amount of combined posts in a forum? It happens less than 1% of 1% of the time. And I'd be willing to bet that most of the times it does result in a change, something was seriously broken in a recent patch and would have been fixed anyway (LRMageddon vs. ECM for example).
