it says i have to own 3 varients of one mech to advance to the next tree. why cant i just buy all the necessary weapons and change the load out, thats a variant. skill trees shouldn't be part of the game any way. not sure what the developers had in mind, but free to play doesn't mean give them lousy mechs and options to force them to buy our virtual junk. i love the look and feel of the game but open beta. this should still be back in the development stage. my hunchback cant even look at the top of the hill to shoot all its weapons. base captures and points just means every one runs around in ravans and hellhounds so they cant be hit. mouse control is way to sensitive and no adjustment, medium mechs are neither fast enought or powerful enough to be of any use in the two game styles available. i understand the object here is to make money so keep the game play dynamics which are stupendous, and model it more after what mw4 was. you want to make a mint, charge a subscription rate, and even out the mech base. (i.e. ravans can run fast and are hard to hit, but cant carry 3 large lasers, way over powered) every mech need a place in the game otherwise you only really need to put 2 or 3 in it. every mech should be available to every player, as should weapons. i would pay 15 dollars a month to play, but you would get a hell of a lot more at ten. you don't have to run down the hill to make sweet love to a cow, walk down a make it with them all. ; )

The 3 variants for the pilot trees allows for small tweaks to mechs, from twist/speed/heat/etc but they do not need to be purchased. Now, each mech has slightly different hardpoints, which allows each base variant to be different from each other, and play slightly different.

Good, it shouldn't. Weapons in the torso should not have the same freedom as arm mounted weapons. Now if you are not seeing ANY difference then in Options you currently have the arms locked to torso, and this is the default setting. As a player learns the controls and how to handle a mech, she is able to unlock the arms to get a wider range of fire for those weapons.

HDR has improved for certain weapons. As for everything else, being a lone wolf means you better be aiming for the legs to slow those pests down!!

They want you to grind grind grind
They want you to buy mechbays (because selling mechs gives you a tiny amount back)
They want you to purchase premium
There is your answer
Welcome to Forced2Pay gaming.
However I always point out, that MWO is pretty generous compared to many F2P titles out there.
Dont mean to condescend but
F2P is a success because
-Tons of people will try a game if its free
-Casual fans will spend small amounts over time (fans that may never have bought a $50-$60 game)
-Hardcore fans will, overtime, spend $100s on a game that used to be worth $50 flat
