This has been bothering me for a while, but...

Has anyone else noticed that the auto-shutdown initiates at 95% heat instead of 100%, or is it just me?

I do recall that it used to be initiated at 100% in the past.

Now I have to repeatedly override shutdown whenever I'm taking a shot at 75% heat, otherwise I'd shut down even though there's no risk of heat damage... it's kind of annoying.

You know you can blow up from going over 100% right?

Obviously... but the 95-100% range is currently completely unusable unless you override and make sure it doesn't hit 100%.

But if your at 95% and you alpha with 3 ERppcs that's committing suicide, they are very forgiving compared to the TT, if you got that high in battletech you'd start cooking off your ammo.

But the line has to be drawn somewhere.

I would prefer it if alphaing at 95% blew you up to be honest. But this 'shutdown before 100%' thing is just annoying. It'd be nicer if they let me blow myself up, rather than forcing me to shut down when I'm really not hot enough to shutdown yet.

I often do it just to blow myself up and give the other guy less damage cash.

After all, ballistic mechs don't deserve C-bill

You know you do not HAVE to alpha strike all the time, right? TBH, the heat system is broken, but in a way OPPOSITE of your post. Heat should start affecting your mech at 50% heat, getting worse as you let it climb.

It is weird. Considering that 100% is supposed to indicate some kind of auto-shutdown limit why have it kick in at 95?

I don't shut own til over 100%, I am able to toe the line at 95-100% before shutting down.

I do have issues with the fact that unless you override you don't take internal damage when going over 100% and shutting down. That was a dumb change. It made a lot more sense that when over heated you would take damage, a happy medium would be some threshold, if over ~110% you started takin internal damage, even if u were shut down.

If I had a guess, it would be that HSR/server related stuff lowers your actual threshold a little. There has been some netcode related changes for a while now, so my guess is that it is affecting you in the way you are describing it. I get the feeling that you want want to tinker with the brief shutdown override sequence since it may mitigate this behavior.

I noticed it too, you shutdown at around 96%.

When is the right time to conceed a fight, when you are 95% dead, or 100%?

yeah that's very annoying. I like Laser builds and I notice the amount of heat of every weapon group or alpha strike of my mechs when piloting it to avoid shutdowns. Like Group 1 is generating 20% heat so I wait till my heat buildup is dropping below 80% to fire it. That means I'm very often between 95-100% heat. That keeps me mobile and alive. Shutdowns below 100% kills me ;)

It depends on how many heatsinks you have.

I thought it is the warrior way to die by their own hand than to be killed by others.. so they won't get a kill. If a true warrior have it their way, they will disable auto shut down, put Supercharger and Masc on their mech and load it with as much booby trap as possible.

That is the way to fight a match and do crowd control.

Only thing missing is a bunch of Davy Crockett nuke ammo I can store on my mech..

I've had this for a while, I don't remember how long. I assumed it was a result of my 270+ ping.

I dislike the fact that I cant float my override like I use too. Use to if I hit override on my mech and it cooled down to 90%ish I could fire a few weapons and spike it back to 98%-99% then let it cool to around 90%ish and fire a few more weapons to put it back around 99%. I could keep doing this with out having to keep hitting the override every 5 sec. Now with the new system you have to spam the override over and over.

I've never seen this, shouldn't this be in a bug report?
