First: Aliens: Colonial Marines was universally disliked by all reviewers. Go to metacritic if you don't believe me. The developer changed 3 times during the course of development, graphics engine got downgraded and it was a total mess in the end. Everybody knew it before; nobody gave it "glowing reviews". There was no "demo" so some people bought into the marketing hype and got burned in the end.

Second: MWO is a game you can currently play and judge for yourself. The finished game won't be much different from what we have now, and the review is written by this in mind. This game has solid foundations and there's no way PGI screwing this up in any major way, not after being so close to the launch now.

Third: PGI probably didn't even know a gaming magazine from Germany called "Gamestar" existed before, how could they bribe them?

It just baffles me the most negative guys in these forums are all founders.

No, they are goons! Don't generalize goons with founders!

And they mentioned that the community is mostly nice and able to play smart.

Up until this part, I believed they actually knew what they were talking about, now I`m not so sure anymore :P

How does teh saying go again? Almost all goons are founders but not all founders are goons :D

Most Founders played in the closed beta, which in many respects was a better game than what there is now.

Actually, I find the people in game to be quite nice for the most part. It's only when you come to the forums do you encounter the worst of the MWO community.

^ I agree 100%. Though in all fairness, It was meant more as a joke than anything else ;)

However, without wanting to **** anyone off (but I inevitably will, I have a knack for it apparently), my impression is that both the unofficial German MWO forum as well as the German subforum here are significantly more "civilised" overall, that could also play a role.

As said before: Even WOT was tested before finishing beta. If PGI will mess this up, rating can drop for sure...

It startled me a little as poptarting was aplauded as and showcased "good tactics".
Other than that the review was fine and not that far off the current truth.
At least in puggies.
Wich is, currently, the most important and most vibrant part of the game.

I read the article. The testers are stunned by the effects, the concept of modifications. Yet, they are remarking the lack of content (maps, game modes) and that the game requires teamplay and support from the forums to be enjoyable.

It's a fair review, but I don't get the high rating. Uniqueness I guess is the selling point.

Yes, it doesn't seem the rating and the review fit.

Did we play the same closed beta? Imagine Mechwarrior Online, except much more broken. That was closed beta.

It is a very positive review. Hopefully it will bring more German players :D

Like we aren't enough, yet? Germans, germans everywhere, doesn't matter which time of the day i play, i always find them in my matches.

For the review, you have to be careful with gamestar scores... there is a word for them, Jubelperser, they don't get it to write a critical article.
Even bad games, where the text is full of complaints how bad the mechanics or bugs are, even these get high ratings from this magazine. Actualy I was surprised when i saw that 85%, even as a fan and founder i wouldn't give more then 75% with the current state. But then i saw "gamestar" and i knew what happened.

Nevertheless, kudos to the score and i hope we'll get more players, too.

No, bad games don't get high ratings from Gamestar. That would be plain stupid.

Simple it's Open Beta, because the significant stuff like Community Warfare, UI 2.0, DirectX11 are all still in production. We have a store for two reasons, testing of said store and the in-game economy and of course to make money to help keep the company running.

Right now the game is a fun Mech Simulation shooter, but the persistent environment is what this game is really all about.

Oh, as for the OP, nice! :)

Becasue unlike you and about half of the rest tof the people that weren`t around for CB , Gamestar understands what "beta" means, and is valuing potential as well as current status, insteaad of saying"ok, the game is 100% finished now just becasue I played it , even though it`s still in Open beta and is just over 6 months out of closed beta".

As a RELEASE, this game would be well under 70 for sure. But again, some people understand what beta means :P
