who said moving target, i mean when you're on top of those rocks on tourmaline, tryng to snipe with your er ppc, and waiting for the recycle time, you're getting hammered by ac2 at 2000 meters non stop.
there's not a lot of space to move around when you're on those high hills unless you really want to drop and damage your legs. it's not a problem when hitting stalkers and the like because it's a fair fight, but these ac2 guys will peel your armor faster than a banana

IMO you should be able to shoot fast OR shoot far.
these guys have it both, a machinegun that outranges everything

and you know what? that's bull****

Why do you exaggerate to make a silly point... :P

"Getting Hammered by an AC2 at 2km"?

Really! Long range is 720m. Thus at 1440, your taking 1 pt and at 2k .25 pt of damage. If that is hammered, I would hate to hear what you called get attacked by an AC40 up close and personal. :) They are wasting their ammo. You should be laughing out loud.

I gotta agree with the OP on one thing; macros make Ac2's shoot just like MGs. They're noisy, fun to shoot, annoying to be shot with, and don't do much of anything. Yep, just like a MG.

Of course if someone wants to spend 24-36 tons, plus massive amounts of ammo on a long range MG that constantly threatens them with shut-down, I say "more power to 'em."

Obviously, I don't have access to the data to confirm that there's not a bug or exploit which allows more damage to be done artificially, but so long as it's just replicating keystrokes with one button press, I see no issue. Honestly, I think this is one of those things like so many others that I think people have grabbed hold of and blown out of proportion. It's a perception that a macro is producing extra damage when the reality is that it's just saving you from carpal tunnel syndrome.

To maximize DPS, not cheat, all that is needed is to figure out how many AC2's can be fired in the .5 seconds after the first goes off. What ever # that is, if more are added, then the DPS actually suffers, as some of the first guns to fire will sit idle after their .5 seconds of fame, waiting to go again.

I suspect that # to be quite low. :)

It's been pointed out before. Shake and impact bloom become blinding to the extent that one cannot see nor respond to the mech shooting them. At the speed they fire, 5 going off chain fired means you are getting hit every 0.1 seconds. By the time you are able to respond to this, you've already been under constant fire for 2-3 seconds.

So a 4 AC2 Jager will have delivered 32 to 48 damage during that time, without the ability to even see the attacker due to the impact blooms and the shake, never mind any other mechs that might also be firing at you during that time.

Mechs that move and do not sit in the line of fire tend to live longer. True story.
