Despite outrageous claims of the game sucking so hard (from people whom are playing it repeatedly.. odd) I can confirm that I logged in for 10 matches or so and had a blast today.

yeah I got screwed by MM once (4 lights in my team versus no lights at all in other team), and got cored in about 5 seconds once (ran over the lip of the caldera in caustic into 4 tangos.. whoops) but overall game is still pretty fun.

Can't wait for LRMs to become viable and to try out the new UAV tomorrow.

Oh and please god make the Arty and Airstikes good at some point? i was really looking forward to these and right now they are just embarassingly stupido bad. :D

Go go PGI!

The game can indeed be very fun, and that is why it can be so damn frustrating. Sometimes you'll get that perfect game, where the teams are evenly matched, the MM didn't have an assault mech fetish, you'll have snipers, brawlers, fast harassers and flankers all doing their thing, players cooperating and fantastic running gunfights where the initiative and the momentum switches back and forth and it's absolutely enthralling.

And then you'll have games where 5+ mechs per team are assaults and everyone sits behind a ridge, terrified to take a peek because doing so would mean at 40+ alpha in the face.

This game can be so incredibly fun when the stars align but such a lesson in frustration far more often as of late. I'm optimistic though, and those fun games, for me at least, outweigh the snooze-fests.

Plus, I think . . . I hope . . . things are really starting to look up. After this current meta, up is the only direction we can go, right?

The only fun I have: Causing massive amounts of rage when capping or powering down in the corner of the map while facing off the boring, un-original balance. My troll powers are legendary gold.

This is it in a nut shell.

I'm cautiously optomistic with the recent shift in dev demeanor that things may be changing for the better.

I don't totally agree with HOW they are changing things, but the attempt is being made and communication has opened up some.

Hopefully it sticks, the latest ATD was a bit disappointing though.

Mechmashing is always fun.
But I've been addicted since 1985.

Roll on tuesday.. though I'll be honest and say that the pace of change has been glacial and I'm nearly ALWAYS dissappointed at the content provided in each patch, I've been playing this game for more than a year now so that must say something!

This patch could be massive. If they do the missile re-work, the weapon balancing/bap changes, narc changes, jump jet changes, PPC timer adjustment, Blackjack, and all the other stuff they've mentioned.

it could be crazy.

If they leave out a bunch of it, i think we're back to glacialness.

Agreed. (don't forget canyon map!). That partially why I'm nervous, the last time I was this worked up for a patch I just didn't play for a week out of frustration. :D

Yeah I've got the same worry. I've been a PGI debbie downer for a good 2 months now.

If they really add everything (Missile HSR, Missile Re-work, LBx-10/MG/Flamer/AC5/LRM Speed changes, BAP change, NARC change, Canyon, Blackjack, Jump Jet Shake, PPC cooldown, etc...) if they do all that...I will start giving benefit of the doubt.

If we get to tomorrow and half of that lands on the "maybe next patch, no ETA", then I am going to be very frustrated.

Hrm I'll be very surprised if we see JJ cockpit shake in tmrw's patch, didn't know about any NARC change tbh.

In the interest of giving the devs a fair chance, The SSRM fix was pushed back 2 weeks IIRC because it wasn`t quite ready in time to be coded into the patch but is ready and will come June 4th for sure. Snd I`m not 100% sure jumpjet shake was promised for this patch, I think that was june /July ETA.... dito for the Lbx.... ;)

Yah i think we're SUPPOSED be getting

- LRM speed increase and path change
- HSR for missles
- UAV & Seismic Sensor
- Canyon
- Blackjack
- PPC changes

.. if ALL THAT is in I'll be super pleased. If SOME of it out, I'll be dissappointed. If MORE of it is in I'll probably die of shock. L)

Now, you see, this isn't aimed at you per se, but I've seen snide comments like this a while back, and I've even sat here in disbelief after reading it from a few devs as well, and it disgusted me back then too.

The people who are playing the game often, and repeatedly, are obviously the ones who enjoy the game, yet can still see enough issues damaging it that they feel the need to speak out against broken things.
These are the people that have plenty of experience with the game, obviously like it enough to invest time in playing it, time reporting issues, and spend their time writing posts about stuff that is terribly broken to try to keep the game they love going, rather than seeing people just leaving left, right and centre.
Yet it gets brushed under the carpet with quite frankly disgustingly disparaging remarks like "The complainers are the people playing it the most often"

Well NO **** SHERLOCK - that's exactly why you should listen!

I agree that you can't just ignore people with a big post count (I think this is what you are referring to with the "sweep under the carpet" thing), but there is a "noise to signal" ratio that the DEV's need to be mindful of. They cannot ONLY listen to forum posts - they have loads and loads of stats that they must also pay attention to.

I played 5 matches today.. I quit after the 5th.

1st match- in hunchback Right torso removed in one shot during movement, by a PPC stalker.
2nd Match- quite fun, and why I bothered with the 3rd, 4th and 5th matches. Ravel 3L with ERLL and two flamers: got to deal damage and play hell on the PPC boats in river city. (Any other map would've been considerably less fun)
3rd Match; very short: Running to upper city in Yen-Lo.. Headshot from full while crossing the bridge
4th Match- Atlas mixed load, shot large lasers at poptart prancers, eventually succumbed to 3 ballet highlanders.
5th match-Stalker: headshot from full while beginning attack on an atlas.

4/5 CoD in slow-mo.

No thanks, moving on.
