I will post this anyway, even though BAP change comes....TODAY.

I expect it may have problems, since we have a handful of mechs who an carry ECM, and now any mech can counter it if they want.

So, here it goes....

SSRM act like a heat seaking missile in their mechanics. I would propose they be just that, and hence, unaffected by ECM, which counter RADAR guided missiles. This would affect LRMs, of course. LRM act like Radar guided missiles of today, including the transference of lock from other radars/sensor sets, which the SSRM cannot.

If we did this, your streaks would still work on the lights when they got close. You could alter their affect on your sensors (so you could still see friends, etc).

This would also allow a new comsumable - really, you could for both - decoys. You could carry a flare pack, and when you dropped a flare, there would be a chance for each missile to follow the flare over your sig. If this was done, I would then also propose larger SSRM packs be brought in, like the SSRM 6 for assaults and others that have the tonnage. For radar guided, you could then bring in chaff packs that also have chance to throw some of the barrage off.

Anyway - just some ideas...fire away.

Today's patch will relegate and regulate ECM to a reliable long-range scouting tool instead of the brawling tool it was being used as.

I'm not opposed to some of your idea of a decay consumable though, that might have some decent tactical advantages on it's own merit.
