Yes it doesn't have the survivability of a Hunchback or a Centurion but those are brawlers and this is a fire support Mech. It's a completely different role/playing style. If you're putting an AC/20 on this little thing then you're probably using wrong. Ranged weapons work best for the chassis. The only variant that might be a good brawler is 1X for all the medium lasers you can throw on it though you'd still want to be paired with something else that will get more attention than you.

I've had a lot great games in the BJ-1 and even more in the BJ-3. With their JJs and long range weapons, Canyon Network is a great map for them.

Blackjack can only work with weight restrictions. For example a Blackjack+Catapult (110 tons) vs Hunchback+Dragon (110 tons).
On it's own it's too slow and too easy to hit for a medium mech.
