I am a versatile mech player. I have played assault mechs and at times I play lights. Weird that my best mech is a light. But that's not the issue.

Let me clear the air, enough with classifying every Highlander as a "****** Poptart".

I built my Highlander to brawl, but I do not think that I should sacrifice my Jump jets to "be on equal footing" with the average Atlas or other mech. I own 2 atlases, when I want to play a large stompy mech that cannot fly, I will pilot it. I own a Spider. I can touch the sky when I want to. Enough of classifying Highlanders as ****** poptarts. Yes, there are those that can't fight when you get up close and personal, but it's unfair to the rest of the people who pilot that mech.

What's worse is when you die in your Highlander is not the disrespectful remarks from your enemies, but from your own teammates!

I have put up with this ever since Heavy Metal came out. C'mon people, as a community, let's let this crap go.

I have never seen people call out Jager players that use the twin Ac/20s...

I have rarely seen Trebs that jump up and shoot people called anything...

Machine Gunning Spiders? Haven't heard any problems with that.

The Centurion/Treb zombie mech build has not gotten any "Press".

Let it go.

honestly their was NOTHING new in the game that wasnt already there before the highlanders came out.

but after they did a few things happened

ALOT of hate got directed at them because of the heavy metal and whole MC version before Cbill version fiasco
then once the c-bill ones came out ALOT of people started playing the new mech

well its an inferior brawler to the atlas so brawlingin it isnt the optimal thing to do. the safest thing to do with it is to take advantage of its Jump jets, which turns into poptarting which is a fine game mechanic.

so now the game is flooded with a ton of people doing THE SAME THING!!!!

thats where the problem happened, if the bulk of high elo players didnt all flock to the highlander and actualy played other play styles, you wouldnt hear all the QQ you do.

im at a medium range ELO and frankly i see maybe 1 or two poptarts a game thats it, and all my games are fairly diverse.

the problem for the most part is at the high end of elo with a few flare ups at mid range.

Honestly I don't begrudge jump-snipers.

I just hate that it is THAT effective and so many were doing it.

All I really want is to ensure we aren't stuck with every match being the same thing. I want more builds to be viable. And really, it isn't that there aren't other viable builds, just that everyone and their brother is using one of five cookie-cutter builds.

I don't know what to recommend, if anything. Just want to see more variety.

I have no problem with jump-snipers. At least they have to demonstrate some kill in aiming.

LRM boaters on the other hand...

I find it frustrating since my own team believes that the "poptart" is an unstoppable killing machine, and when you die in it, they shrug off your assistance as "oh, no wonder we didn't win he was a poptart. I don't think that that many people have complained about getting "Jacked"...

Some people are mystified by cover and don't get that something between you and your enemy can stop incoming fire, these people are bad players who would blame anything but their own lack of common sense for their deaths.

Ignore them and their whining for what it is, poor workmen blaming their tools.

I hate the poptarts. i can cope with poptarts but the poptarts really get my blood up.
There i am, happily picking apart the oppossing team and then *whumpf* a poptart appears and trys to shred me.
I am fine with poptarts whom use this as a viable tactic but know that there are other methods and employ them but the poptarts whom seem to believe that there is no other way bar the jumping up and down throwing masses of firepower around really **** me off. And when you actually close with them they retreat and start poptarding again. It really ruins a game for me.

I hate the outfielders. i can cope with outfielders but the outfielders really get my blood up.
There i am, happily running bases and then *whumpf* an outfielder tosses the ball to the base ahead of me.

And when you try to steal home, they do it all over again. It really ruins a game for me.

(I don't love jump snipers... but they are part of the game... I can understand "balancing" them... but if you post something like the above, you are, well, basically jumping into a game and demanding the rules be changed to suit you once you lose.)

733C
Also JJ work well for brawling
Highlanders surely cannot absorb damage like an Atlas but they can definitley brawl

ok listen up i hate poptarts, for the same reason i used to hate raven 3ls. notice how i said "used to" because now the raven 3l has been fixed it is the mech its supposed to be. sure i stil get annoyed with it sometimes but i rarely drop in a match with 5 or 6 of them like i used to when it was broken.

the exact same applies for poptarting. when i drop in a match and every single highalnder is poptarting, and theres a lot of them as well then its gets infuriating. not because of the mech mind you but because of the fact fact that something is broken.

whether it be the ppcs, the 'JJ or the mech. in my opinion and pgi agrees (as they will adjust JJs) it is the combination of JJ and PPcs which are both broken. JJ are broken because they give no shake which is actually impossible as they are attached to you mechs torso, and ppcs are broken because of the lack of heat and quick CD times.

im not sure if these 2 problems have been solved in this latest patch or the next one as i havnt checked or played for a few days now (such is my frustrations).

and remember before the highlander it was the cataphract poptarts, confirming that its not the mech but the combination of JJ + PPC that needs addressing. it just so happens that the highlander is an assault so can pack more armour and more weaponry

Not really. I have developed a method of dealing with them as several unfoutunate snacks now know. I mearly range them in, allow for the split-second delay for my shots to reach them, and aim accordingly. Ive ripped apart poptarts by using this counter method many a time.

I am having a bit of "cognitive dissonance" reading the post I had quoted, then my (admittedly "not helping?") response, and now this reply.

You: I hate PopTarts and this is why; they ruin the game for me.
Me: Part of the Game, Deal with it. (forgot to add the  emoticon makes me not an *******, sorry :()
You: Actually, I'm fine with PopTarts, and eat them for breakfast.

Nah im fine with the ones that can adapt. I just take exception to the ones that, having been driven out mearly run off, until they find suitable poptarting positions again. As i said i can deal with them, i just dont like them :)
