Ah you guys have no imagination. Heres why it won't get annoying.
1. Not every player will be hearing that noise non stop, only people with the seismic sensor module, and only when enemy mechs are close. If you have the module you've decided its worth it for you to waste a module slot on, so you'd want to have the information it provides as readily as possible. The noise is a massive help with this and if its making a noise you probably want to know about it. Besides, when you hear the noise are you going to be worried about the noise or the enemy mechs ?
2. The sound in that video is way over leveled and chirpy sounding. Its just the way its recorded. It wont be implemented to be so intrusive sounding in game, that can be made much softer and more subtle compared to other sounds.
Think slightly above footstep noises. Are you bothered by footsteps.?
3. (No offence devs) There is already a noise you can call too too loud and intrusive, its the blip blup enemy mech detected on radar noise. Do you have any idea how loud and annoying you would say that noise is if I made a YouTube video of just that bleeping non stop and said lets implement it? Yet even this noise gets put into the background subsconsience part of your mind when playing.
4. Many Aliens games, which are dark, QUIET, mostly eeery games have implemented this in the game running non stop and it does not get annoying or seem over the top in any way.
5. Its going to add a new feeling to the game of actually being scared of the sounds you hear. Imagine being alone and hearing heere heeer, HEER HEEER (lol)
When you are running away from mechs, and have your back facing enemies you will be able to tell if you succeding in getting further away from your enemies or if someone is closing in on you just based on the noise. Will really help with urban maps with lots of buildings and obstacles.
