there hasent been a clear sence of loss, or losing, in the sence that there is no penaltiy really for fighting the enemy.
you cant die, you dont lose mech's or equipment, im not even shure the developers even used the words "repair costs".
i hearby submit that (probily just on solaris) we add the capability to sweeten the pot, putting up mechs and equipment that you own up for grabs if the enemy wins.

I see an exploit in the making if that happens.........
Havent they stated there would be no trading of any type , I could be mistaken.

Hmmm.
If they implement something like this, chances are you'll both just agree to a C-Bill amount on 1v1 fights.
The money gets escrowed, match begins, pilots fight, winner gets the pot. If a player disconnects during the fight, the other player gets the pot. Of course, 5% of the proceeds would HAVE to go to me for coming up with the idea in the first place.
Just kidding.
It would only be 3%.

Repair cost have been confirmed.
EDIT: They also said there would be no giving money or mech to other players (which isn't quite the same thing, I know,) but I'm doubting the existence of a system like this.

Yeah, that wouldn't work all that well...
You get crazy rich after several months, your buddy just started the game. You set up a match where you let him kill you, and he gets a boatload of free stuff. etc. Too easy to set up scam matches that way.

I don't think you're going to be able to set up private matches in the way you describe here.

You could have a Dogtag Challenge Mode. 1v1.
If you beat another player, you get their Dogtag. If beaten again, a counter appears next to the name. For example, you might see under my profile a list of the people whose dog tags I have:
> Paul Inouye (999)*
(For shame reasons, we would not allow the counter to hit 1000 or more, it's just too crushing to the losing party)
* The 999 value here is a placeholder. The actual value was so large that the datatype the computer had earmarked for holding the value was not sufficient.

Perhaps the penalty would be in your faction losing the planet to another faction. Who knows what benefits a planet could bring to the meta game.

Dogtags would not work, as it would weigh down my mechs and make me move too slowly or stop altogether...
What they COULD do, is have a premade matchtype, for custom team matches for teams who want to fight each other, and just not have any c-bill rewards or penalty. Such matches would be for prestige only between gaming groups.
I would also like to see a game mode for challenging other players to a duel.
