Ok, I'm not going to rant and rave about the current state of LRMs after the patch and will keep this as short as possible. I know there is already posts about this topic however I feel the need to add my input to this abomination that has become of LRMs.

Things that are glaringly obvious in game with the new changes:

LRMs have become harder to avoid due to their higher trajectory. Cover is much harder to find now.
LRMs do more damage to the CT and is less spread to the other parts.
The AMS buff, whilst a nice addition, is pretty useless when up against masses of LRM volleys from other players.

Now I liked how LRMs were in the previous patch, but in this patch it seems they went a bit too far.
I suggest that the damage from LRMs be more spread and less on the CT. The trajectory can be kept but this should be countered with a lower damage per missile. This is a support weapon, so it's damage should only be enough to soften the target before the main weapons come to bear.

I'd just like to add that PPCs are where they should be.

Thank you.

I am not an LRM user, in general, but to experiment, I took out my highlander, easily one of my worst mechs as far as my ability to pilot it. I tore out the AC20, dumped the LL, and putin 2 ML, and a gauss, and loaded up 2 LRM15 and an LRM10 and a bunch of ammo.

I started killing. I took minor cover, and was able to rain LRM clusters on people over hills, etc, just using my teams locks. they couldnt hide. It was very easy, indirect fire role, and took no skill.

I usually had 1 kill, maybe 2 per match, and I had to do...nothing.

I agree LRM needed some help, but this is now the easy button.

Long time player/lurker. First post. The LRMs are a little too powerful with the new flight arc. If they stay this way, AMS should be enhanced further. But think about it. You boosted LRM effectiveness THREE ways: Missle velocity, attack arc, and damage. I do believe that the previous iteration of the LRM was too innefective, but now it's simply too powerful and it's making the game more polarized: a dream come true for LRM boats, but a nightmare for everyone non-ecm.

AMS is pretty good right now. put dual ams on my stalker and it was shooting down about half the missiles heading towards me on small volleys (which can be a lrm20 on a mech that only has <5 missile tubes ... like one of my stalkers hardpoints).

when the arc and CT splash gets fixed having AMS on every mech would provide pretty decent coverage.

LRMs are beyond a joke and ruin game play. It would be more practicle if they were restricted to one LRM per mech. At least then you would not have to deal with excessive missiles being blasted at you from afar with no place to hide.

I pilot 2 LRMboat awesome and also hunchbacks, trying out the BJ1.
The new missile update had made LRM worth their weight and space again, but they are not impossible to dodge.
While piloting mediums, I have the habit of using shutdown to break enemy missile lock. They now work even better with the new flight path, I can shutdown and start up immediately and move forward, most of the missile will miss and hit the ground, while I only take 5 or 6 missile from a swarm of 30+ compare to close to 10 previously.

to me this is the biggest part of the issue... This used to be my favorite map... going in between the buildings, and staying out of harms way. Snipers were still an issue, But at least i had a chance..

What chance does this give?? the missiles are coming almost strait down out of the sky If you look at the the cluster closest to the ground, it is basically verticle. I have had core me from directly above at the bottom of a 60 feet cliff in tourmai. Before they start playing with any damage/speed, this issue along with the CT coring really needs to be looked into..

BTW, i see pictures posted here why can't i link my pics?

Posting here (rather than making a new thread) because it's the first LRM thread I saw in the feedback forum.

I'm not going to comment on the flight paths because that's been acknowledged as something that needs tweaking.

The new speed feels good, but hitting fast lights hasn't become any more reliable than it was with the slow missiles. If they get hit at all, it's on their legs. When I'm piloting a slower mech (<70kph), it is a lot harder to get behind cover before the missiles reach your mech, which would be fine, except that...

LRMs seem to be doing a LOT more concentrated damage than last patch, which means that either the damage was increased by too much or the missiles are doing more damage than intended. Even small salvos of 5 or 10 missiles seem to be doing significantly more damage then, say, an AC5 or PPC round.

I've noticed that I'm taking damage fairly evenly all over the mech, which means that they're not focusing the CT, as has been alleged. This suggests to me that splash damage is causing the missiles to deal more overall damage than intended again.

To summarise: The speed is good. The damage is a little overdone. Put them both together, and something breaks. Badly.

The whole patch is just a nightmare ...

I'll ragequit until this is fixed. No more MC purchases from me.

It's just missile spamming and poptarding.

Don't worry, I'll buy enough MC for both of us. Also, not seen much poptarding in a couple days. The odd 1 or 2 that I DO see, get blown to smoldering bits the first time they try it. Great for the game IMO. But that's who's doing the majority of the QQ on here. Check out these guys' post histories. They were not QQing about poptarts and ridgehumpers for sure.

Dunno whether I'm contributing to this thread or not by saying this since everyone seems to have made up their minds concerning this LRM "issue" and cannot be convinced to consider other opinions.

I personally haven't seen a single overpowered LRM boat since the patch. I admit I've seen several mechs being completely wrecked in the wide open by LRMs and mechs taking alotta damage behind pathetic covers after being locked on. Also people who still refuse to use AMS or atleast sticking next to one are getting tons of missle love.

Then again by moving from cover to cover and scouting the area ahead before just running there with no cover are still solid tactics to avoid getting instakilled by missiles. Also getting AMS and boosting movement speed helps alot to get into close combat where LRM mechs have close to zero chance of surviving.

PPC and Gauss only mechs probably have hard time surviving if piloted the same they were before the patch but imho that's just fair considering their dominance in battle fields before(not saying they were OP either).

Off topic: I'm running brawlers only before anyone starts blaming me for missile boating.

LRM feedback :

-flight path is to steep u can not hide anywhere
-DMG is too high
-and all rockets hit center torso?(not sure about that kill was instant few time in the row :( ))
-speed of rockets too high
-the spreed is to small

-And where is heat from all of those rockets ?

So TOO MANY CHANGES TO BUFF ROCKETS IN ONE PATCH.

GO SLOWLY PLEASE ONE CHANGE WITH WEAPON PER PATCH WILL MAKE US HAPPY :).

Does anyone know how to read the command chair posts? Isn't that a rule on the forums; to check if someone has already commented on the issue, especially the devs. Both flight path and splash damage are explicitly mentioned in the post. We don't need to have these flame wars or QQ circles Quit bitching and suck it up; they are on it. http://mwomercs.com/...93#entry2369593

As you may have noticed, and if you haven't then hoooboy, the LRM/SRM flightpaths have been rewritten.

By default, there are a number of points along a flight path that tell the missiles when to change direction in their arc to target.

Posted Image

As you can see this is a standard arc flight path. This is not an issue at the moment.

There IS however an issue with in-direct fire. When you have a spotter spotting you and the LRM carrier does NOT have line-of-sight, we move the "dive now" point closer to the target to help hit people hiding behind minimal cover. The problem is, we've pushed this dive point too far out and have missiles dropping too steeply.

Posted Image

One other thing (and this was sorta mentioned in Ask the Devs 38), is that we missed the patch window by a day and were not able to get a splash damage reduction into the build for this patch. The splash damage is pushing a lot of damage to CT at the moment.

These issues will be fixed very soon. (Hopefully before the first June patch. If not, then it WILL be the first June patch)

Feedback can go here: http://mwomercs.com/...dback-21052013/
