So, how long before it gets the nerfbat? And how do you think it'll be nerfed?

Ya know, them Canadians vs the other riffraff.

- LRMs mostly making mechs "red or dead" before they get to a brawl
- 17k GXP is a lot, so many players might not have one yet (at least, the advanced one)
Then PGI would earn less money, since they get 15 MC from me (about 6 cents) every time I consume one. I don't use the CBill one because I need those space bucks for armaments and engines and such.

Well let's face it this module will be a must have. And as a must have it should be available to everyone (and it is) Except the module in question is 17k and change GXP and 6 million C-bills.
So this must have module requires some legwork to unlock and equip it's not easy access. This will of course mean that many players will start to cry Pay to Win!
Also...
Shouldn't a feature like this belong to a BAP?

It's technically not Pay to Win, and you're completly right that that's how it will be interpreted. I think this really highlights a faulty system more than it does a faulty module. I actually think something like this should have been a base feature all along.
My general opinion is don't drag the module down. Elevate its access to more people. Idk, perhaps make modules cost twice as much unless you unlock it through GXP. It's an idea, anyway...

...or that too. Really, either way would jive with me.

Maybe they buff the other modules instead?
Target Info Gathering: Instant info
Sensor Range: 100 % to +200 % Boost
Target Decay: +10 Seconds / + 20 seconds
Cap Accelerator: +50 %
If all modules were as effective and noteworthy as the Seismic Module, I think the problem would be less - because you had to make hard choices.
But here's one prediction: If it gets nerfed, it will be nerfed before I can afford it. [/SpacePoor Founder]

The ECM must negate ennemy seismic sensors IMO.
And the dots from vibrations must be much much difficult to spot, currently even a commando is unconceable.
It'll better to encourage players seeking for footsteps SOUNDS than make them clearly visible on the minimap... Giving too much technology without restrictions in this game is gamebreaking.
I wonder where are the promised "categorization" of different modules, like the "scout" ones, the "brawlers" ones, the "snipers" ones... since every mech is currently able to equip any combination of module.
That is the main mistake PGI made, and they have to fix it quickly before massive player exodus...

I cannot comment on how useful the seismic sensors are as I've yet to get them myself but if trends have shown us anything...
ECM being able to counter this will create a huge amount of whining and it will turn into a deadlock for awhile on the stance PGI would take. At least, for awhile.
As for the exodus, well I guess the players that leave will create the Star League perhaps?

Haven't we learned anything from the ECM fiasco? It's time to stop hiding balance issues with hard counters using other items, just balance the item itself until it makes more sense.

havent grabbed the advanced but 400m? Thats a heck of a lot of space to be able to detect on small maps. Cut it to 125/250, at least

Annoyingly this seismic module seems to pretty much entirely obsolete it. Track 1 targeted within 200m if it goes out of sight vs 400m auto detect pretty much everything bar sitting ducks.
Or am I missing something?

The 360 module maintains a target lock, which tells you what direction they're facing and lets you (or others) fire missiles at them. The seismic sensor gives you their position but no further information.

if light mechs would go lets say under 80kph and mediums under 50kph they could stay undetected. this would allow for sneak attacks and flanking for this types of mechs

I'm all for it but realistically not many would benefit from it.
Having ECM counter seismic sensor is just lol. A maximum detection range nerf is enough.

I used MC to convert to GXP so it's a direct link to real money.
