I put together a quick video on how I have my joystick and mouse controls configured for MWO.
In my mind, this is the only way to play. More immersive than KB+Mouse without sacrificing input precision.

Definitely more immersive, and definitely has an edge over kbm. The only way to play? No, and not even the most efficient (but much more efficient than kbm!) from a control standpoint. What makes it desirable is it's the least expensive/simple route to a much better cockpit control scheme than kbm and that is something I can get behind.

Hey Loc Nar, fellow joystick advocate, what do you think are possible improvements for efficiency? And maybe elaborate (A LITTLE) on what you mean exactly?
Thanks!
Thanks!

(A LITTLE)
Heh.. yeah, brevity is not my strong suit, but luckily this doesn't req much.
By efficiency I mean the upper limit of control possible control vs the amount of finesse req to utilize it. A left stick is light years ahead of kb since you have analog turning and the ability to instantaneously apply full fwd/rev/x commands with ease, in addition to the added efficiencies of having other in-game functions conveniently mapped to buttons that are much closer to your fingers, all of which allow a much finer degree of control over kb.
Not the most efficient though, since a dedicated throttle handles controlling speed better yet, affording the possibilities of hands off operation for periods as well since you can set-it-and-forget-it until you need to make a change. Throttles also are dedicated left hand devices, so the physical button layouts tend to be more sensible than using an ambidextrous joystick in you left hand. For turning, unloading the task to your feet via pedals allows higher resolution of movement vs input command, plus further frees up the left hand making precision driving that much easier. If one were clinically ambidextrous, the perf gap between pedals and left stick for turning would be smaller, but the pedals still have some degree of mechanical advantage due to a larger range of motion to generate the same commands with.
In short, if one were to perform a series of precision tests that increased in complexity for both control combos, leftstick/mouse would begin to fall behind throttle/pedals/mouse as the difficulty levels were increased, assuming the same tests are used with both hardware combos.
edit: in case it's lost in my ranting... big ups on documenting, sharing and posting your control scheme; for many, your scheme is likely a rather nice plateau to stop at before entering the zone of diminishing returns and is the most practical way to get your left hand of the kb for all but chat...
