Spiders need to be more maneuverable in the air. Especially the one that only has weapons in their center torso.
Would it be possible to have buttons that let you drift left or right in mid air? Spacebar jumps, but there aren't any spare buttons around there. So maybe the numeric keypad 8 would go forward, 2 to go backward, 4 and 6 to go left and right. Which would make it very hard to shoot while doing these aerobatics. I figure that would be balanced.

Make it so that the jump jets have a chance of making your mech do a 180 flip and landing headfirst.
That'll shut poptarts up and make lights charging into the cap take more time.

+1 for more fuel, more upward thrust, and more speed in general to JJs plus a little ability to manuever in the air would be great.
each jumpjet should give more power, speed, thrust, AND fuel, right now all to often 1-3 remain plenty, and more give marginal benefits beyond the spider and a few special cases.

What you really need is a licensing of the song "I Believe I Can Fly" and let the Spider play it on demand.

Actually, I'd kinda be in favor of that. Once they get collisions back into the game and can let mechs fall over again, I'd totally be in favor of having hard landings -- or accidental ramming into walls -- have a chance to knock you down.
One of my big beefs with the way Jump Jets work is that if you are standing in front of a building and want to get on its roof, you have to run forward and use your JJs to grind along the face of the building until you clear the top. Which realistically ought to tear your mech's armor up (and should have some nasty accompanying sound effects).
I'd much rather you be able to boost up into the air, then feather forward to a gentle landing on the rooftop.
(And, eventually, let players target buildings to ruin their structural integrity and cause them to collapse under mechs.)
