the numbering represents their announcement order, not their implementation order.
well that's misleading, why number them at all.

You will notice, for the Quickdraw that quickdrawed the Orion this month, it does not have a number. I would not assume anything on which mechs come when.

Not all variants... The Victor will be the only assault mech able to mount double of triple Gauss Rifles or AC/20s. That makes it very unique, you know...

Yes, maybe if you stripped significant amounts of armor, went light on ammo, and used a dog of an engine. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Maybe an Annhilator...that's a mech that could roll 3 heavy ballistic weapons. The victor, in the current meta, will run 2 gauss supported by a ppc or ac5/uac supported by lasers. It'll essentially be a more practical cataphract since it'll have more armor and enough tonnage to go with a standard engine to save it from the phracts achilles side torso.

Uhm... Is this going to be another cut and pasted highlander like the quickdraw?

Highlander and Quickdraw are pretty different mechs as the Quickdraw mounts no ballistic weapons at all for example. And even if the Highlander and the Victor are very similar regarding their weaponry they are very different in their playstyle.
The Victor trades 10 tons of weight for higher jump capability and more speed. I pretty much like that.
Think of it that way. No matter what mech the bring into the game and how similar they are to those that are already there, new mechs always bring new nuances to the game to more personalise everyones gaming.
Sure you could argue if it is good to bring both the highlander and the victor so shortly one after the other but honestly it wouldn't matter. There are always people that would have wanted another mech no matter which one will be implemented.
I'm confident that with the time everyone of us will get a mech to his linking if you think of how many mechs are there in the battletech universe.
I really look forward to the victor as it and the atlas were always my two favorite mechs. But I fully understand if one sees that otherwise. Anyways I'm happy and cross my fingers for all of those that are still waiting for their favorite mech :)

I already mastered the Highlander. I see no reason to buy Victors. Somebody give me a good reason, besides, "it's Davion's flagship mech."

Stock your going 64.8kph with a STD320 max 380-400.
So Expect sub 80-90 speeds in an Assault mech.
Plus it has JJ for manoeuvrability.

3xAC/20 / 3xGauss / 3xUAC/5 on an assault mech.

I am waiting for this chain of events:

- Victor Released
- 2x Gauss 2x PPC becomes the dominant build, among other similar options
- "Hey guys, we totally fixed boating! No more 9 medium laser boats! Aren't you happy? You people complain about everything!"

Two points:

It's not the Davion flagship 'mech. The Victor predates Victor Davion by hundreds of years, and the Draconis Combine captured most Victor factories.

It has the capability to mount the same engine as the Awesome 9M. This means the Awesome is officially now completely outdated. You make make a Victor carry twin AC/20s with full armor and more speed than a Jagger with the right setup, too.

Basically it's the assault 'mech that fills any role you want it to fill, plus can carry twin Gauss. They'll really have to try hard if they don't want it to replace the Cataphract AND Highlander as the perfect balance of both with even more features.

For that, one would again turn to the VTR-9A1 and hope that PGI implements it with something like:
  • RA: x2 ballistic hardpoints [x1 AC/20]
  • RT: x1 ballistic hardpoint [x1 Machine Gun (moved "up" from Right Leg)]
  • LT: x1 ballistic hardpoint, x1 missile hardpoint [x1 Machine Gun (moved "up" from Left Leg), x1 SRM-4]
  • LA: x2 energy hardpoints [x2 Medium Lasers]
Here is the record sheet, for those interested in the design's layout.

If they actually do this, we'll see 4 UAC/5 builds, and I think 4 is the number that UACs tip from "good pugging weapons" to "That is just wrong."

It's not the flagship mech because Victor Davion piloted one, its a flagship mech because it was a favored mech in the Federated Suns. From the 2nd Succession War until 3039 FS were the ones making it until Draconis Combine recaptured the factory and the FS had to make due with purchasing new Victors from St. Ives. The mech is affiliated with the FS so strongly that Kuritan mechwarriors refused to pilot the thing. Victor Davion piloted a Victor mech at the beginning of his career because it was the primary assault mech of the FS and a favored command model.

You want a King Crab. AC20 in each arm for the stock model, weighs in at 100 tons, been around since the days of the SLDF.

King Crab, Annihilator and Devastator.

The Mauler and the Emperor also have two ballistic arms... It'd be neat to see a twin Gauss on the arms.

The MAL-3R variant (not available until 3062) mounts a LB 10-X in each arm (along with a LRM-15 in each side-torso, a Small Laser in the head, and a C3 Slave Unit in the CT). :P

So whats the general opinion, should we expect Victor to be the next assault on the 15~18th of next month or should we brace for anything?
As we now know the mechs for october through november that leaves us with 3 mechs till the regular release of the locust in october, so 1 assault and 2 ... something?

Looks good. Now we need to know whether that's smaller than a Quickdraw or bigger than a Stalker.
