Just wondering what people thought about the concept of static/AI defenses, to give the defending side an advantage, thus making it more difficult to 'flip' a territory. For example:
Automated turrets: Seen frequently in the PC games, it makes sense to have some of these defending any important structure or installation.
Tanks: The tabletop version had a wonderful variety of tanks, it would be nice to see them here.
Infantry: Great to have in an urban environment, though squishing them could raise the game's age rating (this is why WoT doesn't show any people in their tanks).
These could also be options for the occupying mercenary company to buy, or for specific match types.
Thoughts?

I think that smth like that should be in game oh yes, defenders should have some advantage.
I hope that this game will have real persistent world(with Inner Sphere star map, planets and persistent frontlines) where factions/players can travel and invade/capture planets. Planets under control can get some upgrades for right price. I mean fortifications, smth like npc defenders in character of air units, some tanks, maybe infantry, (big maybe) mechs and of course turrets + defenders would have some repair facilities near the positions they defend (cities, bases).

Static turrets in defensive positions is something I very much expect to see.
I want to form a full RCT as much as the next guy but, there will be no combined arms. Definitely not at launch, and not for quite some time, maybe never.

If they used static defenses then I would think they would have to offset the number of attackers/defenders for balance.

I'm talking about AI units, completely separate and not controlled by players.
