Reduce Jump Shake By Weight?

First off, I like this method of shake to turn alot of players off of poptarting. However I feel as though it should not effect lights and mediums as much as it does. In a gameplay perspective, you really only have to worry about heavies and assaults poptarting since they can both kill you in one alpha (depending ofcourse how much armour you have left) easily, and have the armour to survive a few counter hits, where as mediums and lights can't as well. Could also apply a difference of shake by how many jump jets a mech has, where the fewer the jumpjets you possess, means how much more work your equipped jumpjets are doing, thus increasing your shake.

i like the idea that the smaller the mech, the less shake it has; makes sense to me. It's like the difference between launching a bottle rocket or a cruise-missile, obviously one will have more force than the other.

This is already in.

Shake amount is based on weight. The heavier you are, the more shake you experience.

Relatively speaking, the cruise missile is MUCH more stable than the bottle rocket.

This.

I like the idea for balance purposes, but let's not act like it's "more realistic". In reality, larger objects are more stable in flight. Watch the way big birds fly vs the way smaller birds fly.

Came to this thread to say this (or similar).

How this can be solved however is that turning in mid-air is near impossible for a heavy and very easy for a light mech.

I am not exactly sure how poptarts do their stuff (never played as one), but in my understanding they need to turn in mid-air.

They don't need turn, just torso twist. Heck, they can get by even without that if they have the enemy targetted.

Right, well, shouldn't it be harder to do torso twist in air without using JJ? I mean on the ground, you use traction, in the mid-air you have none. So if you use JJ, heavies should get a penalty (you cannot jump as high or something), because you just ran out of fuel.
